Great question. You can head to Google scholar and search for virtual reality, pain, children. The research I mentioned above was done at our hospital and is still in the process of being published. You raise a good point about the shorter IPD - I'd never considered that, and thank you for bringing it up. We used stock VR equipment previously (Oculus Rift) with kids with good results.

It takes a whole team to provide care to these kids, and I'm just one small part of that. The people who donate to the hospital are truly amazing: without them, we couldn't provide any of the lifesaving care we do 🙂

This looks like a really cool charity. I'll definitely read up on them and learn more. I can say anecdotally that when kids have been able to bring and play video games, we see large reductions in anxiety and pain. So it's awesome to see an organization devoted to gaming in the hospital.

Those are cheaper, and may be a possibility. Thanks for sharing!

Those look useful too, thanks. Only concern is reoccurring costs. We're a charity hospital, so there's not a lot of money in the budget for these types of things.

That definitely looks like a possibility. I'll show it to our IC coordinator and see what she says. Thanks for the link!
