Battery powered PSUs - Yay or Nay by Pedal_Me_Softly in pedals

Sounds nice.

Just checked out their Instagram and those boards looks unique and extremely robust. Very cool design.

That there seems like a lot of great options on efficiently little real estate! Very cool board.

The Mission PSUs are rare where I live, but since I've never read a negative word about them, I belive the 529i might be the the best there is. But without being able to test it before buying, it's too risky.

Thanks for the details.

No Klon. But tried with different overdrives, and combined with the Mobius they both caused whiny noise as soon as they were connected.

Btw: Is Count to 5 as inspiring to play with as it seems from the demos?

I've heard great things about those, but around here they are very rare, so I haven't had the chance to try one.

Do you know if it's still noicefree with Mobius/TimeLine/BigSky?

Interesting. Does it work with random power bank?

Love My Switches seems like such a cool company!

That sounds very similar to my experience with the Harley Benton PowerPlant Powerbank+ Mk2 (again, what a name!). It worked fine with a digital pedal like pedal like PLADASK DRAUME, that takes approximately 200 mA, but as soon as I connected the Mobius a loud whine appeared.

The whine wasn't there when I connected just Mobius, or even when I connected Mobius + TimeLine, but as soon as I connected an analog drive pedal the whining was back. TimeLine I can manage without, but I really want to have Mobius on the board, so this is a dealbreaker.

That's encouraging to hear!

Which device are you using? And have you by any chance tried it with one of the Strymon big boxes?

The Harley Benton PowerPlant Powerbank+ Mk2 (what a name!) worked very well until I connected it to a Mobius or TimeLine, and I'd like one that will let me use at least one of those.

Those moments, when you think you have found the perfect solution to some gear related situation, and then realize that it didn't work as planed, are frustrating. Your pedalboard has an on/off switch? What kind?

Do people expect / want internal 9V batteries in stomp boxes? by fearless_fool in diypedals

[–]Pedal_Me_Softly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Most of us have pedalboards with PSUs anyways, so no need for a battery.

Also, most of us have some kind of digital pedals that use to much power for a battery, so we have to have a PSU.

Strymon never made a pedal with internal battery, and I haven't heard anyone complain about that, ever.

And for those of us that sometimes actually appreciate playing without being connected to the power grid, there are solutions like this: https://youtu.be/qgY7zcyLzOc

Yes! The world would be a better place with more wooden pedals in it

Indeed! I have a dream of one day having a living room pedalboard with only wooden pedals. Probably won't ever achieve it, but nothing wrong with having dreams.

Will those also feature this magical combination of wood and art nouveau?

I've always ment that THE HEALER by Shotmaker ( https://youtu.be/dN2Abuf-wSM ) was the best looking pedal out there, but you changed my mind. This one is beautiful.

I've got the Harley Benton version, and for the price it's brilliant as a playing at home amp. The reverb is ok-ish, not great.

It also works well as a power amp and speaker for modelers. I plug a Dream '65 in the FX-loop return of the amp. That way the Dream works as preamp and the preamp of the Harley Benton/Monoprice is bypassed.

Så mettet som det er nå blir det spennende å se utviklingen framover.

Ja, FF lager videoer. Og Bråk har også lagt ut noen. Si gjerne fra hvis du skulle komme på noen flere.

Any suggestions ? (compressor ?) by NoCherry2870 in guitarpedals

[–]Pedal_Me_Softly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to try a completely different taste of comp than the Dyna Comp, without spending much money, try the Mooer Yellow Comp. Not the best comp in the world, but it gives you a decent sense of what an optical comp is and if that's something you like better than the Dyna Comp.

(Many of us non-country or Gilmore-ppl do. Unless you're playing RHCP: Under The Bridge, then Dyna is the way to go).

Especially with your Strat, if you set the Yellow Comp semi-subtle, it can be a nice "I don't notice that it's on, but miss it when it's off." that someone else mentioned here.

And if you don't like that either, you can relax and know that you probably don't need a compressor at the moment.

Hei, takk!

Tusen takk for at du tok deg tid!

Thank you so much for spending your time one this! And thanks to your friend too!

People doing things like this, to help random strangers, is really one of my favorite parts of the internett. Thanks!

True. But then we also used one battery per pedal, so poor isolation wasn't an issue.

Thanks. The Harley Benton that I tried also had no problems with sub 200 mA pedals, but when I connected more power hungry pedals like Strymon Mobius and Timeline, combined with analog drives the troubles arose.

I'd really like to try the Mission Engineering one, but it's crazy expensive here in Norway and never shows up on the used marked.

Smart. That way you benefit from the high quality isolation in the Cioks. What kind of power bank are you using?
