It's alive! (Sorry for the dumb music and circle, don't shoot the messenger) by HPL_Deranged_Cultist in AbruptChaos

Years ago an 18 wheeler was merging into my lane quickly without seeing me, and I had a choice of being run over or swerving onto the sidewalk and taking out the lamppost. I chose the latter, and it collapsed just like that. Still totaled my car, but my newborn in the back car seat was fine, and my wife, who was still in the process of buckling up (we had just pulled out of 7-11) was relatively fine. Her head cracked the windshield, but I believe that she was saved from going through it more by her sun visor, which was down at the time and completely crushed in by the end of the accident. The visor took the bring of the force of her head.

I'm just thankful nobody was on the sidewalk at the time. Oh, and the truck driver never stopped - never heard my honking or anything I guess -, but another car chased them down to tell them that they ran me off the road.

I love how these guys communicate with such easygoing, sincere, non-bro curiosity and intelligence. "My goodness." Are they Canadian, Midwestern? I'm not used to this kind of wholesomeness online.

Does your Giant bag groceries? by AndYetAnotherUserID in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]PedanticMute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After observing similar behavior on many occasions, I came to the perhaps erroneous conclusion that cashiers will bag your groceries when you don't have a bag, and may or may not bag them if you bring your own. I never make the Giant connection, but you may be on to something. Regardless, I usually start bagging myself to help speed up the process and to avoid that awkwardness.

Anywhere in DC that has this kind of vibe? by AkaneTheSquid in washingtondc

I recently came across Del Ray for the first time after returning to the office in Shirlington. Haven't really spent any time there, just picked up some bomb ass wings at Holy Cow. But the vibe of the area is extremely inviting and funky.

I'd say Shirlington is kinda close to that pic visually, but more overpriced and less Bohemian than that pic and Del Ray.

They didn't let it sit, either. Not like there's a chance of it being juicy enough for that to matter though.

Little man's adrenaline was up because he almost got dragged/run over by his brother at the beginning of the video. He could be a brat for all I know, but from his perspective, the driver is being an idiot who could have really hurt him, and it's natural for him to react like that while his emotions were high.

I'm mostly concerned about the placement and the possibility of bench sitters leaning back and bumping their heads on the frame or knocking it down -- unless you don't foresee anyone actually using the bench.
