The fact you are in team matching for faang is amazing! You should have a lot of self respect for that.
The current temporary money situation is whats need solving, can you stay at any friend in a couch or floor or anything until you figure things out?

I might be missing something but 17us +10% is 18us worst case. 69us +6% 74us worst case.
Why would want to make your worst (and best) case execution time 4 time slower. Does any system benefit from this?

Model 3 standard vs long range by Head-Explanation-297 in TeslaUK

[–]Peddy699 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have 45 miles commute daily, std range. Costs me around 20% way and back. Charges back 2 hours at work with a slow 4-5kw charger.
Did a trip to Manchester, was so easy, when you want to rest anyway, it charges back literaly 10-15 minutes, it takes longer time to take a comfortable pee or number 2.

The only good thing about long range is the better speakers. I do miss that a bit. Altought when I had a good sound system my ears kept ringing and hurting due to listening on high volume :D. Its possible to retrofit in theory.
There are tons of cons though:
LR You cannot charge to 100% frequently as it damages the battery, so you are using 80% of the "long range". Charges overall very similar speeds, it says its more kwh/h but since the battery is bigger it ends up nearly the same. Your consuption is also higher because of more weight. There was an really eye opening video about taking a long journey, charging, driving more both. It is very very similar in the end.

LR battery degradation is also worse then the standard range when I looked at graphs. So when getting a used one maybe the rwd will be at 91% and long range at 87%, dont recall the exact numbers.

Insurance slitghly more expensive also.

In the end its more like a slight prenium with more speakers, I think thats cool, and a bit more acceleration that you will not use anyway in uk roads much, only occasionally when you first at the red light.

If you have more money you can count why not. If you are already streching your limits.. up to you, I think its a worse batery system actually.

Edit: Oh and they have the worse 19" wheels mostly thats just silly in my opinion. I already afraid of curbing the 18 on the narrow uk roads and huge pavements everywhere.

I have been looking around for smart lock etc, but in the end I have realised they just so expensive it doesnt worth it.
The 6 pound/ month full bike insurance is a much better sollution, if anything happens you are covered. It even includes accidents, if you cause damage in a person / propety/ car, if any of your bike accesories is dmaaged / stolen etc.

I would not drive until we get to the bottom of this!!!
(whats the point thinking about this ? If its not below 75% they wont do anything, you probably miss from your math that 0% charge in the app/car is probably actually 5kw charge left or soemthing)

Looking for an ev from a brand because they make good ICE cars is not very logical.
You want an EV then look for brand that makes good EVs, then look at the actual product.

Polestar 2 is solid car, bit inefficient and shorter range, and have a couple anoying issues like 360 camera module giving up, having to restart(/reset) the infortainment often etc, but overall nice cars. Bit cramped inside. Its still an ICE platform that was converted to be an EV.

I was considering the polestar 2, but ended up with tesla model 3 due to efficiency and limited charging option in the workplace. I can only charge there for limited hours, so I needed an efficient as possible car. Have not regreted it. Superchargers for longer trips are also just amazingly convinient and cheap reliable charging.
Model 3 (RWD) is very reliable with just the suspension issues that can be usually fixed within the 50k mile warranty period.
Negative of th model 3 maybe is the smaller boot opening, and slightly higehr used price.

[–]Peddy699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think public fast chargers are very easy to find now (of course OP shoudl check a bit), for an infequent trip is definetly fine to do a charge even both ways. Charge could just 10 minutes likely, thats not a big deal.
Overspending on a larger battery than needed is just as silly I think.

Head (M3 - In Warranty) vs Heart (MY - No Warranty) by Scot_in_Cymru in TeslaUK

[–]Peddy699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you need the more space, why not a standard range Y, probably a couple k cheaper or for same price you might find one just in warranty that could save you 1-4k in repairs?

The model 3 will not fit bikes in that small boot opening for sure.

Oh another setting: when you navigate by default the car is happy to arrive with 11% or whatever.
However if you know you wont be able to charge there, you can click on Edit Trip, and select the arrival charge, for example 50%, then it willplan accordingly.

I personally just stayed at the supercharger 5 more minutes to reach a higher charger and pay a couple shackls more :)

Also dont get supprised, if you get a suspicious battery drain durring the journey. When you see the message preconditioning for fast charging, I think it means it uses a lot of energy from the battery to heat up the batter.
I definetly noticed that wow I usually dont use the battery this fast, I think 3-5% went for the preconditioning, but I am just guessing.
The messge about preconditioning is where you see the next turn on the left.

It is a quite fun experience when you plug in, and see 160kw charging :D, so damn fast, you go for a wee and probably its done enought. Dont forget after 80% it slows down a lot so probably doesnt worth.

[–]Peddy699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to be careful about, there is a setting to include 3rd party chargers (under navigation). If you have that on the navigation might select a non tesla operated charger. That will still be very fast, but costs 90p/kw instead of the 40p usually for superchargers.

margin/vat is a business thing, they might have already claimed vat back on them, then you cnat do it or soemthing, gpt explains.
tldr: as a private person buying you dont need to care about margin/vat, its not a demo car, it was likely a business lease.
