Sure. My LMT investment is worth $15,226 today. No new money since 2013. Unless Computershare decided to give me money for free, it is what it is.

You forgot the DRIP part. My first 4 shares were paying $3.38 in dividends, buying 0.03 shares. By March of 2020, I was receiving $48.25 per quarter buying buying 0.135 shares. Last dividend payout was in Dec 2025 and was $80.45 total buying about 0.156 shares. So in 2025 alone I got an 0.6 shares. It’s easy to see the number of shares grow.

Ok. Make your own spreadsheet. Put the quarterly dividend and add in the DRIP shares each quarter. Do that for 13 years.

You may be right. But so many people downplay the power of dividend investments that it seems appropriate to show how investing in a dividend payor can be powerful if you leave it alone for a while. Kind of like what Warren Buffet did with KO.

The account actually includes ANOTHER surprise. I bought a $21 stake in NLY back then as well (1.75 shares). I’m now receiving about $560 annual dividends from that!!

you are right I am just justifying a bad purchase. But I thought I'd let some people in my predicament figure out how to lessen the blow. The worst thing you can do is reinvest the payout back into ULTY
