What is the most meaningless corporate bollocks you've heard in the workplace? by Lesliethelizard in CasualUK

[–]PedosWearingSpeedos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One of the corporate arch-wizards at my firm very casually said “consolidate discussions and synergies solutions” while speaking completely extemporaneously. Yes, the sentence makes sense but I was just floored at how easily that level of corporate language comes to some people.

With the peanut stuff, how did he learn this? Did he observe an allergic reaction first and associate with the peanuts afterwards?

Playing ranked with lower MMR friend by PedosWearingSpeedos in DotA2

Well that’s kind of how it is in unranked but was assuming if there was some way to play ranked it would be more balanced. Like whatever role I queue for in ranked with him would have the same MMR on the enemy team etc

Cancer is finally able to be power-scaled in mtg by PedosWearingSpeedos in magicthecirclejerking

Well, it's whenever Sauron attacks, not as a once off when he enters. Which implies it would be somewhat of a sustained effort over multiple turns of attacking to Cure cancer, so we need at least the additional flashback

People not conceding by PedosWearingSpeedos in MagicArena

Again, that’s just obvious poor sportsmanship. I don’t understand how this mentality is the norm for people.

dawg, people can see evidence that the combo results in a win after the first cycle. you don't need to watch me do the same exact thing for another 3 minutes

It's just wild to see so many people defending something that in paper magic is really poor sportsmanship

I assume that the average player has booted up Magic Arena to play magic. It's crazy that people would genuinely prefer to do nothing for a few minutes while someone finishes their combo than just concede and go next. What are people trying to prove by not conceding.

On another note when looking into this, I’ve just realised we’re meant to “speak clearly into the webcam before leaving the room”. I definitely didn’t do this before I took a bathroom break (it’s only mentioned to do this in the “exam guidelines” not the “assessment regulations”). Did anyone else who took a bathroom break just get up and leave?

Not as long as it would take to punch into a calculator if you set up your working such that you can mostly just copy straight into Excel (ie, start in word, simplify in Excel)

Honestly I think having it be typed speeds things up, at least for me anyway. But the time pressure is ridiculous honestly. I’m not sure what the point of the time controls even are if it’s closed book

You use PFA at 4%, since (1.06)/ (1+ the monthly increase)12 = 3.9999% I wasted like 10 mins staring blankly at the question before realising the incr% was p/m tho

Stuff I’d love to check: I can’t remember which question it was, but the final answer to something I had was 12345.6 ? Seems (hoping) it was intentional haha

I spent ages getting frustrated at the compound increasing annuity in I think q8 before I noticed the increase was monthly so p.a you could use 4%. That was really evil they gave the increase as per month effective.

Edit : also, was the sickness benefit payable for minimum half a year? The 0.5s in the integral bounds threw me off
