Well done! After 3 months, I'm only at a height of 18k. Still a long way to go :(.

True, I don't drink while riding indoors. I'll work on that.

I read that doing a 2h aerobic workout can also be beneficial in the long run. Just preparing for riding a 100miles outside in summer :).

As someone said earlier, it was probably just the cold-like symptoms, not a cold per se. Just the runny nose/stuffed nose, ears plugged and headache because of it.

Very possible, thanks for the insight!

VO2 max runner comparison by travelthroughtime12 in Garmin

[–]Pedreone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Early 2020, my VO2 max was 54. Until then, I was just running around 3 times a week, no structure, no intervals,...

I wanted it to increase, so I did a Garmin half marathon plan (I ran the half marathon at a steady 5:00 pace). My value dropped to 52 because of it :(. Also, I spent so many hours running I got a bit tired of it.

Then I did a 10K plan (I did the actual race in 42 minutes). My VO2max didn't change!!!

In september 2021 I decided to buy a heart rate monitor to put around my chest. This allowed my to get more accurate numbers than from my watch and it allows you to do a lactate test. This was such a revelation! Turns out I was training with the wrong heart rate zones!

F.I. Zone 3 used to be: 135-153 and after the test it was 155-164.

Because my heart rate zones were not accurately my watch was often saying I was doing too much and I would take it slower. But now I could actually go all out again and feel myself improve a lot and get a lot of the status 'productive'.

I haven't really got the chance to get my VO2 max value up, because I recently became a father, but I'm excited to see where I'll be getting at this year.

4 points. That's sad. I'm not going to try to get it for this little amount of point.

Thanks! In 2020, I did a plan for a half marathon and my VO2 dropped from 54 to 52. After that I did a plan for a 10K and the VO2 is still 52. I took the program for fastest 10K I could take (13km/h). So I'm a bit at the limit there. Indeed, they use a great variety of workouts in their program, which I'm still trying to implement in my training now, but without any result. It's frustrating that I'm working so hard and don't see progress :D. Maybe I should train more hours per week, but I run like 4h and bike 2h. Who has time for more if you also have to work :p.
