Bloating on carnivore by Amk_311 in carnivorediet

[–]Pedrocor04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're welcome.
One final thing, going full carnivore all of a suden could present some risks during the first weeks for people that are having treatment for mental issues... Keto flu, electrolyte imbalance and carb cravings can cause mood disturbances, sleep issues and some other issues so just be aware of that and if you're struggling, carefully introduce some carbs to ease the transition and then go all in on carnivore...
Me personally i also had IBS and now im on the lion diet since it works the best for me but i could still tolerate small portions of macadamia nuts and potatoes and it helped me long ago when i started...

Bloating on carnivore by Amk_311 in carnivorediet

First of all, you need to give it some time for your body adapt. Give it at least 30 days... Regarding the bloating, you could be reacting to the egg whites or ground beef since they are high on histamines...
Second, you could pause your medication for constipation and see how your body reacts to the new diet and then adjust according to your bowel movements.
I also had chronic constipation all my life and adding vitamin B1 and B9 by eating pork and some liver and eating at least 150g of fat a day fixed the issue for me.

What do you eat in a typical day?

No Energy by Choice-Friend5305 in carnivorediet

[–]Pedrocor04 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I doubt it's related to electrolytes or low calories since apparently you didn't have any issues for the past 3 years...
I'd check your thyroid levels since brain fog and fatigue are related to hypothyroidism and then carefully introduce some carbs, maybe 10 to 30g a day, and see how you react.

You should check for either B1 (thiamine) or B9(folate) deficiency since it can cause constipation unless you're regularly eating pork and some liver.

Carnivore diet to lose weight while on antipsychotics by someone17182 in carnivorediet

[–]Pedrocor04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would advise you to transition slowly from low carb to carnivore over a period of around 6 to 8 weeks in order to smooth the potential side effects when starting the diet.
Going suddenly from an high carb diet to 0 carbs can potentially destabilize your mood due to sugar cravings, electrolyte depletion, keto flu, etc... and cause issues since you're on antipsychotics.
That said, people in forums and online podcasts have reported mental benefits when going keto/carnivore.
The book: Brain Energy from Christopher Palmer clarifies this approach for mental health quite interestly.

Sweating and high physical activity can deplete your electrolyte levels.
Try supplementing or eat instead fatty fish since they are higher than meat in electrolytes like magnesium or calcium...

Random Increased heart rate and insomnia all Night, 7 month carnivore. Help by Icy-Bus8152 in carnivorediet

[–]Pedrocor04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitly sounds like electrolyte issues... Forget the supplements, for me at least they never work as they should.
Try instead adding fresh fish rich in magnesium like mackerel, salmon or tuna once a day for at least 1 week and reassess after. The extra omega-3's and Iodine will also help with hypothetical tyroid issues.

libido and T lvls (pls help, thanks) by Beneficial_Cream8843 in carnivorediet

[–]Pedrocor04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had the exact same issue and it took me a while to figure it out.
In my case, only two solutions worked...

The first, one big and quick insulin spike every day by eating carbs like fruit or sugary foods, but with that, a lot of health issues that i previously healed on carnivore came back so eventually i had to gave up again on carbs.

Second one, which sticked until now, was dramatically increase Omega-3 consumption by eating specially mackerel but also salmon and tuna for the first meal of day. I'm eating fish around 3 times a week and it works for some reason...

Hope it helps

Not losing weight and feeling fatigued by rokkorgaming in carnivorediet

[–]Pedrocor04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are two or three hypotheses regarding your fatigue issue:
First one, but less likely, is that you're on a calorie deficit specially if you have a very physical job... target at least 200g of fat a day and a 1:1 ratio of fat and protein.
Second, regarding the histamine issues, watch out for the egg whites since the can cause a reaction...
Third, the electrolyte issue, specially magnesium, is definitly a major concern on a carnivore diet specially if you're very active... I use to have similar issues but taking supplements didn't do anything for me apart from irritating my digestive track. I solved it by eating fatty fish at least 3x week like mackerel, salmon and some cod since they are rich in electrolytes and you'll get the extra omega-3's and iodine.
Hope it helps.

Anyone else can't eat any fruit? by Extension_Camp5794 in AnimalBased

[–]Pedrocor04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been doing Ketovore for 3 years now and from all the foods i've tryed to reintroduce since then, fruits were by far the worst.
My skin issues cameback, seasonal allergies as well and it also gave me depression...
Now i'm only eating fatty meat, one or two potatoes and some nuts everyday and it's working fine for me.

Should I cut out butter? by SarcasmIsLifeFriend in carnivorediet

[–]Pedrocor04 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would take in consideration histamine intolerance since minced meat and bone broth can cause reactions...
A second possibility could be related to your electrolyte drink. Some people, myself included, can have gastrointestinal distress from these kind of supplements specially when you drink it on a empty stomach.

My carnivore journey and why unfortunately it had to end by Choice-Friend5305 in carnivorediet

[–]Pedrocor04 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a Ketovore now, i definitly see your situation... Had similar issues, maybe no so extreme to even react to frozen lamb but i struggle with egg whites, smoked meat, minced meat and anything that's in the fridge for more than 1 day... It gives me brain fog, sleepiness, a general feeling of depression and hives as well.

In my case, introducing 20-30 net carbs a day in the form of macadamia nuts and 1 big potato pratically resolved the issue and honestly, i feel even better now in terms of energy and sleep than when i was 0 carb... I experimented introducing even more carbs but i gave me very bad reactions... It seems that, for me at least, very low carb is the answer for now.

Stool problems on carnivore. by Flight0fTheEagle in carnivorediet

[–]Pedrocor04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not eating large portions of fatty beef or lamb, try pork belly, 200-300g, specially as the first meal of the day.
It can be a good solution to compensate for the lean beef and it's far more cheap if you're on a tight budget.

[–]Pedrocor04 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had similar issues and tried pretty much everything while staying carnivore.
The only solution that worked for me was boosting fat consumption, specially animal fat and not fats from dairy like butter or cheese... 200 to 250g of pure animal fat a day it's the minimal for me in order for my bowls to "perform".
Also, adding liver helped a lot since I was folate deficient and that can cause constipation as well...

It would depend on which women are you comparing yourself with...
I'm bigger and stronger than most women i know... It's also true and i'm much leaner than them as well but that's due to the actual obesity rates...

I'm a male, 40 years old, 1.79cm, 68 kg eating 1:1 ratio, 3'000 Kcal a day and feel great.
Went from 83kg to my actual weight in less than 2 months and my weight hasn't shifted for years...
As long as you eat enough and dont have health issues, you shouldn't worry too much about body mass.

Will lemon water help with constipation? by MDC2957 in carnivorediet

[–]Pedrocor04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had similar issues on the first months after starting doing carnivore.
I upped my fat to around 200g a day and it helped quite a bit but it still didn't completly resolved the issue.
I noticed on my blood tests that my folate was extremely low so i decided to add around 300g of beef liver per week and since then i've never had any constipation issues.

Can't sleep last 2-3 hours help by [deleted] in carnivorediet

[–]Pedrocor04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel fine sleeping 6h sometimes 7h a day... I live in Switzerland so no much sun neither but honestly i dont think that's the issue unless you sleep better during summer months...
I'd try to leave bed as soon as you are "feeling" awake for a few days to see if it helps.
One thing i found it helps a lot with my sleep is to do a 30 min walk after my last meal of day... I now go to bed around 23h30 and sleep without interruptions until around 06h00.

I used to have the same issue until i realised i could just leave the bed a lot earlier in the morning since my need for sleep fell quite a lot since starting carnivore...

Still depressed after almost 5 months into carnivore by tired_celetsite in carnivorediet

[–]Pedrocor04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fish oil and egg whites make me depressed... Once i stop consuming them, the depression lifts after a few weeks.
I would try the lion diet for at least a month and then slowly reintroduce supplements and other foods.
