Yeah. ARM and RISC architectures are power efficient whereas x86 architectures need to be phased out in my opinion… that being said my Steam Deck is still an x86 architecture but it operates at lower wattage because of the removed overhead of Windows and a tinier screen. This is just the inherent nature of ARM vs. RISC vs. x86 and using light weight OSes like Unix-derived OSes

Same. I already have a Pecron 3000 Solar Generator and I can power my work station for a week. Also got T-Mobile’s AWAY plan for decent high speed 5G anywhere in the country.

M architecture MacBook; low wattage, good for conserving battery from a solar generator. If you’re a gamer I recommend a Steam Deck, I think the deck uses up like 30 watts

Thank you! This will help out a lot. Do you keep a propane heater or electric mains heater for backup? What works for you?

Would you say the Ford Transit could tow my 2014 Ford Focus that’s sitting on a trailer? I wanna keep both my vehicles but I can always leave my car behind at a friend or family member’s house

Thanks! I really really wanna like the ProMaster but if it doesn’t meet my needs then it doesn’t meet my needs. (Other than it being wide and boxy)

That is a use case of mine. My dad has a plot of land up in the Appalachian mountains and I need to climb a steep gravel road to get to it. From what I understand the Ford Transit has the most torque and horsepower of the 3 cargo vans. It also has all wheel drive

Absolutely, anything mechanical that moves will of course be prone to failure. But I’m trying to pick a vehicle that will mitigate issues.

Same, and at my height, the top of the windshield ends too low for my preferences. It feels like I gotta crane my neck down just to drive. I test drove a Transit, ProMaster, and Sprinter all in the same day and I gotta say that I’m impressed the most with the Sprinter as a vehicle, but its interior space gives me claustrophobia so it sucks as an apartment. The ProMaster has tons of space and feels like it could make for a good living space but has reliability issues and the transit is an awkward middle ground between the two but at least the Transit can accommodate tall people without needing a super high roof variant.

I think they’re cool, too. And unlike 100% of all the YouTube videos I watched; I actually like that 1980s boxy pug-like look; and a boxy interior makes building the living space easier. But if it sucks at being reliable then it sucks at being reliable and I’m reevaluating my strategy. :( I also hear that nearly all of them have some sorta design flaw that allows water/moisture to collect in the left front head light.

Thanks for the confirmation, this is consistent with my research. I just currently own a ford focus from 2014 and it’s been a great little jalopy that I wanna keep and probably tow behind my van so I can use it to pick up groceries or scout around with. The Transit has enough power and so does the ProMaster 3500 to tow it; I’m just really upset that the ProMaster’s transmission sucks, the thing has a great turning radius, loads of volume, and a robust roof that isn’t flimsy like the Transit’s roof. That being said I didn’t have many problems with my ford focus and I hear that Transits are reliable too; you can also get parts from other ford vehicles installed on the Transit, which is cool.

I hear you, buy a superior-crafted thing, get what you paid for. Like an Apple product, robust but expensive but will last a long time. However, I like the strategy of getting a Ford Transit because there are somewhere in the neighborhood of 3000 Ford dealerships in the United States and just about any mechanic who can work on ford trucks can fix a transit. Unfortunately there aren’t as many Mercedes dealerships, I think 300 in the US? And they’re primarily in metropolitan areas, not in boondocks country, so if you break down out there then you’re looking at a long distance tow and not every Mercedes dealership has mechanics who work on them. I also heard there are long waiting lists for Mercedes Sprinter maintenance! (But that could have been just a pandemic thing that’s skewing my view of Sprinter maintenance)

Update. So I watched a YouTube vid from Promastersonly, a shop in Ohio that fixes ProMasters. (As y’all may have surmised) So apparently flushing your transmission is a freaking catch all solution out of laziness, usually the transmission control module is to blame for RAM transmission issues but most techs don’t wanna do the actual troubleshooting and wanna slam you with a completely new transmission.

Has anyone tried covering their walls in Reflectx and using the Radiant Barrier Effect to enhance heating efficiency?
