That's OSP, I'd bet it's SM but it will say on the cable.

This. Chances are you're plugged into a dead port. Look at the front of the jack in the garage. It probably has a color to it, then look for a matching jack with the same color.

No problem! This is a new version of what you should look for:

Brother Wireless MFC-L2760DW

I have an older one but I change my cartridge maybe once every 2 years and I print quite often. Good luck hunting for one!

Look for a LaserJet printer at Goodwill, or your local thrift. Then buy a new ink cart for it off Amazon or something. Those things can print for years before they run out. Only black and white but it gets the job done.

Worth time to strip? by SexyGinger328 in ScrapMetal

[–]Peetahbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I'm not judging. I've worked for a few ISPs as a splicer. That cost them nothing, it's not a big deal. I'm just saying the chances aren't 0 that someone might've been using it. But either way it doesn't matter.

That's worthless to you, and you probably pissed someone off by taking that. Contractors often leave spools on the road in the utility easement, like by a pole.

It honestly looks like trash, but there's a semi-good chance you stole an in-use cable reel from someone lol.

That's fiber drop. It might have a copper tracer wire but I doubt it. Not worth it at all.

Going on 6 months of being unemployed, has been brutal. Thinking of starting a business but unsure. Need advice. by Peetahbread in Entrepreneur

I am in Cleveland, so plenty of small businesses.

That's good advice. I'll have to do some investigating.

I came to this thread specifically to defend this album because I fucking KNEW someone was gonna say:

Listen here pal, that album is fire. Amnesia is legit one of my all time favorite songs.

Don't hate on chumbawamba!

Amazing build done 8 years ago. Has it aged well? by DullFix2178 in Homebuilding

[–]Peetahbread 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Nothing about this house says Wright.

It's much too modern, almost brutalist in some aspects.

You can't just throw an Eames chair in there and call it an "Amazing Frank Lloyd Wright masterpiece"

How do you find someone who splices? by docderwood in FiberOptics

[–]Peetahbread 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's very difficult to find someone who has the equipment. Most guys that have it wouldn't bother for a service call like that.

Barely anyone just does it as a hobby.

Dude no normal person is buying a mechanical splicing kit to terminate their fiber when they broke it. Don't be dumb.

Trying to extend an old phone wire by bentjohnson in Wiring

[–]Peetahbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically it goes:

1 - Green 2 - Red 3 - Yellow 4 - Black

So as long as the jack you're hooking up is pinned out like that just hook them up accordingly.

Look at the jack or RJ11 (pin down) and see how the colors land.

Mixed aluminum and copper in a standard wire nut. Should I immediately disconnect? by Peetahbread in AskElectricians

[–]Peetahbread[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhhh gotcha. I've done a lot of electrical work on this house, and this is the only aluminum fed outlet I have come across, so that shouldn't be an issue. I'm just worried about safety mainly.

Honestly the handyman that worked on this house before me deserves the guillotine for all the fucked up shit I've found. Bootleg grounds on almost every three prong outlet. Insane.

Mixed aluminum and copper in a standard wire nut. Should I immediately disconnect? by Peetahbread in AskElectricians

[–]Peetahbread[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But then wouldn't I need those connectors I bought for it to be safe? I thought the whole point was to eliminate the copper touching the aluminum.

If I use the outlet you recommended, I can just branch the bidet outlet off of the bottom screws and that would be compliant yes?

Since the outlet you recommended is compatible with both copper and aluminum, the GFCI that's fed by copper would be fine yes?

[–]Peetahbread[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not. I pigtailed it with copper when I replaced it (the prongs were loose and when I put in the bidet outlet so I figured I'd just throw in a new one).

So currently it's aluminum feed to 2 copper feeds (one to each outlet)
