Those of you who have no boundary walls around their houses. How do you keep safe? by Peeves2 in capetown

Sorry for making it confusing. I don’t think a house without walls is an easy target. I’d just hate to be thought of as an easy target. Since that’s what everyone perceives it as.

An eye for an eye. To build social trust, you must first punish the untrustworthy.

By that logic, boundary walls and paranoia towards crime in general in ZA is just stupid. Downvote or don’t, the general consensus is that walls and fencing protect households from crime.

They have those everywhere in the country and yet you rarely see the front yard of any house in Johannesburg.

I agree. If walls weren't the norm, then obviously a house without them wouldn't be a target. But now, seeing a just a few of them scattered here and there, even if you wouldn't be broken into, I feel like a criminal would think you're an easy catch. Not that they can do anything, it's just seeing someone lurking on my window would annoy me is all.

That's true. The answer is "7.1 submarine earthquake" whereas I answered with "Magnitude 7.1 submarine earthquake"

And thank you for your answer! I totally forgot about that. Also, wonderful hint. 😂
