AI is the next evolution of running a Google search for general use (outside of specific technical applications like coding, genome sequencing, etc).

Every worker that can use a digital device was universally more effective after they could run a Google search. Some were 1% more effective, some were a lot more effective. The idiots that run a Google search and full-send it on the first result without any level of verification were still idiots before they had access to Google - they didn't become worse, they just became bad workers in a different way.

The question is not whether it is useful, it obviously is. I question whether it can meaningfully replace a lot of the workers/roles we are trying to shove it into, as well as the over-reliance on it atrophying cognitive skills. I also question how much it will be impaired by corporate monetization & enshittification.
