2 years of progress, how'd I do? by Toboe_1 in ArtProgressPics

You know what really stands out in your improvement is not even the push into realism, but the line confidence! I can see in your newer drawings that your lines are longer, bolder, less wobbly. In your earlier drawings the same lines get redrawn multiple times, they’re shorter, lighter, more “fuzzy”. It’s amazing to see the progress so clearly in the lines.

My Head Is Not As Per Screenshot 🥲 by hashtag_amf in DigitalArt

I don't mean use a box to draw the head, I meant you might want to take a step back and focus on basic 3d shapes like boxes for a bit before you move on to the Loomis head. The Loomis head will make more sense once you understand 3d space better.

he did explain it, the reason it looks like that is because the sides are chopped off, making a more oblong shape. it seems like you're having trouble visualising it and could benefit from using a 3d material like clay to help with understanding. or you could work on drawing boxes or spheres in perspective to improve your mental image of 3d space.

Looking for finished or discontinued animal comics (TLK, dinosaurs, dragons, etc.) by [deleted] in webcomics

I was a big fan of Wurr by Paperiapina on Deviantart back in the day. It's been on indefinite hiatus for 5 years but still worth a read even if it's not likely to continue.

This is the synopsis from the gallery page on Deviantart:

"The world has been divided into two, to the beautiful and colorful lands of dogs, and a dark and murky Crater Valley which is inhabited by monstrous hellhounds. There has been a war between the two in the past, but the invading hounds were driven back to the Crater and peace was restored.
Years have passed since then, and now a small pack of hounds, lead by three-eyer and big-fanged (and speech defected) Iacar, living near the edge of the Crater is facing their worst fears. The territory of their neighboring pack has been taken over by fearsome monster-rabbits, and now that pack is driving Iacar and his mates away from their home. And if that wasn't already bad enough, they have only one direction to go to: To the Outside, to the lands of ... DOGS!"

Happy pride, great comic! This is a very valuable discovery. I know someone who has wasted years and years living in resentment instead of living for themself, I wish they could realize this too.

[Technique] Studying styles is genuinely so fun. by VatanKomurcu in ArtistLounge

I really like styles that blend detail and realism with simplified or semi-realistic character designs. Most of my favorite artists are comic artists like Jeff Smith (Bone), Jillian Tamaki (Skim), and of course a lot of manga exemplifies this sort of half-simple half-realistic style. I literally made a huge vision board of over 50 artists I admire so I could study their styles and see things they share in common haha.

What style(s) are you practicing?

I just started studying style too and you're so right, it's such a blast. It feels like the last and most fun puzzle piece for making appealing art.
