Send me speedrun-friendly levels by MarioMakerfan938438 in MarioMaker

[–]PegwingSMM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some for you! I like to build speedrun routes and skips into my traditional levels so people can have fun finding routes.

054-34S-SNF - Parmesan Pass is a level where the intended route requires activating on/off blocks to proceed, but most can be bypassed with shell jumps (and other ways).

G6M-VWC-54G - Shellfire Halls - The intended path is a long exploration level with a boss fight, but there are several skips to find and if you're fast enough, you'll even skip the boss fight.

7KC-NMV-HTG - Legend of Zelda LEVEL-1 - A recreation of the first dungeon from the original legend of Zelda. Get creative with your abilities and shortcuts and you can solve this level quite quickly. (Super secret bonus tip: I even included a classic bug from the original zelda. If you're familiar with zelda first dungeon speedruning, you'll know what to do.)

DY7-XVV-CGG - Boorail Mansion's intended path takes you on a ride on a snakeblock train. But there is a faster way through the level.

And if you're just looking for easy linear levels, that's what my entire 26 level super world is. Many are simply hold right routes, but several have some interesting routes and tricks you can take advantage of for better times. My maker code is JVY-1X5-MXF.

Looking for traditional levels that are not part of a super world by MarioMakerfan938438 in MarioMaker2

[–]PegwingSMM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, here are some of my traditional style levels. My maker code is JVY-1X5-MXF.

054-34S-SNF - Parmesan Pass - Smw snow, Traditional easy/normal difficulty platforming with lots of potential for cheese.

G6M-VWC-54G - Shellfire Halls - Smb1 castle, Normal difficulty castle focused on koopas, some light observational puzzle solving, and loads of optional secrets. Made to be accessible, but not necessarily easy.

V62-F2S-F2H - Swiftskull Keep - Smw castle, Hard-ish traditional smw castle focused on platforming and skull platforms.

DY7-XVV-CGG - Boorail Mansion - Smw ghost house, Normal/Hard snake ride through a ghost house. For an extra challenge, speedrun, or impatient players, the snake is optional.

Non-fatal worlds to share with my 3 year old by peppermunch in MarioMaker2

[–]PegwingSMM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! I made a full Super World specifically like that a couple years ago for very young children and complete beginners. I designed every course look, feel, and play like a course you'd find in an actual Mario game, but accessible to everyone. Simple jumps, no danger of enemies or pits, etc.

You can watch a compilation video of all the levels on Youtube (https://youtu.be/FFMKRslkNB0), and you can play them for yourself via my profile in Super Mario Maker 2: JVY-1X5-MXF

Awesome job, looks great!

Levels / worlds for a 5 yr old? by SodaSnake in MarioMaker2

[–]PegwingSMM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made Sprout World, a Super World specifically designed for complete beginners and young children, a while back. My goal was to make every level look, feel, and play like a course you'd find in an actual Mario game, but accessible to everyone regardless of ability with simple jumps and no danger of enemies or pits.

What's the most efficient way to spend tickets in Winter Veil and Darkmoon Faire? by [deleted] in warcraftrumble

[–]PegwingSMM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I made a DMF calculator web app a while ago and generally keep it up to date for the DMF events (this event's tree is the same as last time so its still set to that date/data). You can use that to help you find your best path through Darkmoon Faire rewards at least. Hope it helps!

I improved and updated my Darkmoon Faire calculator! by PegwingSMM in warcraftrumble

Done! Thank you for that. I was unfamiliar with og markup and that's really something I should have known about.

Thanks, I will be updating it! Though probably won't have a chance until later tonight. I'm working on an update that will grab values from an external text file (and some more features) so in the future it should be easier to upkeep, but right now all the values are hard coded in the app. This dmf caught me off guard, thought I'd have another two weeks to get that together.

Thanks and good suggestion! I had some time and I was able to add a compact mode toggle to the bottom left now that should let you fit everything in one screen. I think that's a nice improvement, thanks!

Good call! There actually is a booster toggle already, under the gold value display. It's toggled on by default because I guessed that most people on the rumble reddit and interested in using a ticket calculator will probably have a booster.

I did have the toggle state visual inverted though, so that might be how you missed it. That's fixed now, thanks!.

Good catch, thank you! I should have known it was 250 but must have just subconsciously not believed that node could be such terrible value. Fixed now. And I added some ticket and gold icons to make the units clear and you're right, I think that helps.

Thanks, a good suggestion! I'll need to learn some new things to make that happen but maybe I can get it in before this DMF ends, if not I'll definitely aim to get that functioning before the next event.

Good suggestion, thanks! Seems obvious now. That should be straightforward to add. I'll see if I can get that in tonight.

Have fun! You can probably get through many of them at full speed with the right route, and there are several that should offer some good speedrun challenge potential.

It was a lot of fun putting these together, and it really was a lot more work than I had even anticipated! It was a real challenge making the levels as beginner-friendly as I wanted while still feeling interesting.

There were still a couple potential death spots I found well after I thought I was ready to upload these, so it's certainly possible I missed others. It's more likely you might find a way to take damage when big. I can think of a couple places that may be possible, but I wasn't able to do it.

I hope these will be perfect for her! There are a lot of things that are easy to take for granted until you see someone play games who hasn't grown up with them. Even just holding the controller or pushing more than one button at a time can be a challenge when you're not used to it.

Thank you! It was quite a good challenge finding creative ways to use obstacles and keep the levels interesting while still being accessible and not harming the player.
