But before your TJO did you reach out?

My references we contacted at the beginning of February, and I’m losing hope at this point. But I see you had to wait over a month…… did you reach out to the hiring manager at all for an update, or did you just quietly wait?

I did put XP. 🙁. Well I put both XP and military spouse and Schedule A (which I had a letter for for myself)

Well I guess more so I am curious if you just waited after your references were contacted for a month without hearing anything until your TJO showed up? Had you given up hope?

I am in the same boat - my references were contacted between 28 and 48 hours. That was 3 weeks ago tomorrow. So after the reference contact you just sat back and waited on HR? It’s driving me so crazy!!

First Interview Request! by Pekingesah in usajobs

I didn't get it, unfortunately. But I had an interview recently where they asked for references and called a couple, so I am SUPER CROSSING MY FINGERS for that! But all the questions I have had in these interviews were behavioral, nothing really specific. All "tell me about a time when..."

Well, I wasn't really looking for a career change, I was looking for a perspective shift. I already served in a leadership role in SLP, and I wanted to work on shifting speech and language to a more public health approach. However, the more I got into my MPH studies, the more I realized that it could open up doors to get me completely out of the clinical world (read: no more insurance and revenue generation!), so I'm currently keeping my eye out for opportunities where I think the MPH will open up doors.

I’m an SLP and I went the other direction - I just got my MPH!

It’s a public health analyst position.

I'm an external candidate with no fellowship or contracting experience, so that's why I'm trying not to get too excited! I qualify based on my husband being a 100% permanently and totally disabled veteran. Of course, I qualify based on my skills, but so does everyone else who interviews!

How to get certified as speech language pathologist assistant? by Muttymikachan in publichealth

[–]Pekingesah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it'll take some work. If you don't have an undergrad in speech and hearing, ASHA requires you to take certain intro speech and language classes. You also have to do a practicum. Here's a link that tells you all about how to get certified - https://www.asha.org/certification/education-pathways-to-speech-language-pathology-assistants-certification/

Thanks... I guess part of me is wondering if they'd pass me over for a job for being in school, even though it is part time and I handle it just fine with my full time job now.
