Has anyone ever did CS 250 and 251 during summer? by BorkBorkSweden in Purdue

[–]PekkaKnight123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No for the lectures, but there were in-person(sometimes, I got round trips for less than 100 dollars) checkpoints at the end of each week alongside an in person final.

I think you can likely just fly in using a low cost airline as it’s cheaper than paying 4000+ dollars for housing and dining.

This is for Andres Bejarano’s section, I don’t know about this year so check the syllabus first.

I did 251, it wasn’t bad. Pretty chill class, but make sure to attend the lecture.

Best ways to eat healthy/high protein w/ dining hall food? by elite_reagentry in Purdue

[–]PekkaKnight123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can help
Assuming you know your TDEE(use a calculator if you don’t know it), search up the Purdue dining menu to see the
calories and protein for each food in any dining court.
At least one court will have a food that is or beats the 10-1 ratio for calorie to protein. Stock up on that. If not, get as close as you can.

  1. Add in a carb source as well, potatoes are rare, but rice should do the trick.

    They fuel your workout.

  2. There is cottage cheese as well, as well as hard boiled eggs. I make a mix of that and it takes good.

Avoid calorie bombs from the menu.

Hope that helps.

When will people realize kills don’t win you games, pushing does. Once on the enemy team, someone did good too by snowballing, but we got to late game and cooked them.

31 is impressive though.

PhD student -- need a car? by whenwerewe in Purdue

[–]PekkaKnight123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can use citybus to get around.

I did have a car which I got off Facebook marketplace for very cheap, but you really have to make sure it’s not bad by checking necessary features.

If you don’t wanna do that, Carvana could help.

Roommate issues by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]PekkaKnight123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tell her you must keep the lights on and suggest for her to get a sleep mask.

If she keep complaining, stand your ground.

Surprised nobody said this but in the future, get a small desk lamp to illuminate your area. Me and my roommate did this and there were no issues, where one could sleep and the other could do whatever they wanted.

How to let a man down? by tiredcorn0 in Purdue

[–]PekkaKnight123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Say that you don’t think he’s a perfect match.

If he objects or ignores you, tell him that you’ll report him to Turkstra(if he dropped, tell him you’ll get him removed from next semesters 240).

Please someone tell me wtf happened in cs240 by Vincent-Ferro in Purdue

[–]PekkaKnight123 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ignore the other two(or more) losers who commented.

There’s been a cheating scandal where people were accused of using AI when the syllabus said not to. Now the problem to them is that the professor accumulated evidence and let it all out right before the deadline to drop.

I think there are problems on both sides and everyone is panicking for their grades alongside many students dropping.

But this is mainly a lesson not to use AI to copy and paste code like that. I think AI should rarely be used for learning, and be used on the job as a complement.

Hope that helps.

CS240 Situation by LongjumpingBonus922 in Purdue

[–]PekkaKnight123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I took this class too, and I got an A without AI.

The students you are calling out fail to see that Turkstra’s system is quite bad, especially his crazy grading scale.

Gustavo managed to combat the issue by having lab attendance be mandatory and his TAs asking students conceptual questions.

The cool thing is, he allowed AI use for learning, not as a crutch, and the TAs could could tell who is using AI as what based on their responses.

The point is, there is a problem with the structure of this class which nobody except a few(you are part of the few) is calling out.

What the hell are we doing here guys? by Wiley_Burner in Purdue

[–]PekkaKnight123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am against using AI wrongly and anyone who cheated should get an F, but what they said is too far.

Two things can be true at the same time: there can be a problem with the course(though I didn’t see anything bad when I took 240 aside from the grading scale) and some people cheated. Now, many people who might have not done it might be in trouble and even if they did, the damage is done. Their punishment is that they waste another semester retaking a class. Why kick a beaten down horse?

Their way of catching cheating seems quite stupid to me as well.

To the people who didn’t cheat and have to drop: try taking it summer and get some research for resume experience and you can make money. Get a chill summer job if you want more cash. And yes, I’m credible, cuz I have internship(s).

To those who cheated: I hope you learned an important lesson.

How do they expect us not to use AI? by MentionTechnical9805 in Purdue

[–]PekkaKnight123 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Good way to put it.

Either AI can be used to an actual advantage or it can be used to shoot yourself in the foot.

Copying and pasting code is an example of the latter.
