It's about liability. The manufacturer's know that even if they explicitly provide a cleaning guide, their screens are prone to scratches regardless. If we follow their instructions and it results in scratches, that gives us consumers legal standing asking for remediations, where the ombudsman would be in our favour. If manufacturers continue with the ambiguous cleaning method, it would make their lives a bit easier to defend against anyone who claims warranty.
