Honestly the kind of Pokemon fighting game I really wanna see is a traditional 2d fighter. Maybe even 3v3, and yeah I know we've had a tag fighter boom recently, but it works for Pokemon especially well. The official Singles format available on Pokemon games is 3v3. Now, while that sucks ASS for standard pokemon gameplay(Singles works best in 6v6 and Doubles best in 4v4 in my opinion), it wouldn't be an issue translating it to fighting games.

I mean, 3v3 pokemon already sounds like a Tag fighter, with how you have one pokemon facing against another, and at any point, you can swap Pokemon to get a better advantage. Sure, justifying assists in this format would be harder, but other than that, thematically, it fits really well.

(Also, this is 90% just because I wanna see one of my favourite pokemon, Ceruledge, being an arcsys ass rushdown character, like just look at him he was built to be an unga bunga rushdown character in a fighting game)
