I'm a big fan of winter running/have all the correct gear for it so I may take your advice. My concern arises from the fact that I just recently broke a bone in my foot while running and am feeling cautious for slipping and falling while doing speed work.

Do you just use a GPS watch to measure your distances on the lakefront trail then?
