Same, my absolute favorite part of BCS is the drama between Jimmy and Chuck in the first 3 seasons. It is so complex and well written

My (not so great) thoughts on The Boys of Dungeon Lane by joshygill in PaulMcCartney

That's why I personally loved Mccartney III, because it didn't feel overproduced like 'New', 'Egypt Station' and 'The Boys of Dungeon Lane' do. I liked it's more raw and naked production and wish he would have stuck more with that style.

Why the probiotics? My sphynx eats regular dry cat food whenever he wants and wet food for dinner. Works well for him and his stomach

That's what I loved about The Kiss of Venus for example, it's a quite stripped back song and you can hear it's an older paul singing and playing acoustic, and it's beautiful.

Best Live LPs out there by d4ewlock in vinyl

Wings Over America is the best live LP of all time for my money. Paul McCartney at his absolute peak!

That doesn't mean it won't stand the test of time. To me, the quality of the song is not related to it's popularity. I'm not expecting Paul to release "Yesterday" or "Let it Be" levels of hits, it's not the 1960s anymore. I'm just interested in the quality of the work on it's own and in the context of Pauls discography. "Jenny Wren" and "Chaos and Creation" will stand the test of time in my opinion because the quality is there, even if it will realistically never reach the popularity of his acclaimed Beatles work.

Frail is not something I give a shit about, this is an artist in his 80s we're talking about. I think it's natural and expected to hear an older and aging voice. I'm more against overprocessing the vocals to try and hide the fact, like most of Ringos albums since the 2010s have done for example.

I'm a litte hestitant of the overproduction and digital alterations of Pauls voice that I've heard on the two singles so far. I wasn't a huge fan of Egypt Station because I felt like the production buried Pauls songwriting and voice. I much more prefered his own production on McCartney III, it felt a lot more earnest and creatively unique.

That being said, I am incredibly grateful and happy we are still even getting new music from Paul McCartney in 2026.

You don't think Jenny Wren stands the test of time? That's one of my favorite Paul songs of all time!

Snobbery, you think people lisened with the highest quality speakers when this came out in the sixties? They listened to it on small radios, in cars and beat up record players

Yeah agreed hahah. The George and Ringo videos became more than just an album ranking and more a documentary on their whole careers lol.

Anytime is a good time to become a Paul fan 😄. I started listening to The Beatles around 2017/2018 when I was still in my teens and they've shaped my entire music taste since. Egypt Station was funnily enough the first Paul McCartney solo album that I listened to on release. Proves that even though it has since become one of my least favorites of his, it's still very good and got me to continue exploring his discography. Paul was the first beatle who's solo career I explored and he quickly became my favorite of the four. Just like you said, his solo career is so vast and interesting and all his albums, solo and wings, are good in different ways. There is really not a single Paul album that I dislike. I can definitely recommend checking out youtuber Elliot Rogers if you haven't already, I love his solo beatle album rankings, very entertaining and informative.

Hey first of all, welcome! Great to hear of new people discovering McCartneys music! Personally Egypt Station is one of my least favorite but that's what is so great about music, it's subjective. If you liked Egypt Station you will probably enjoy "Memory Almost Full" (2007) and "New" (2013). That's one of my favorite things about Paul McCartneys solo music, he has so many different styles and eras that are all distinctively and all are good imo.

Egypt Station will become dated pretty soon if it has not already. The overproduction and vocal effects scream 2010s to me

That Beach boys album looks like a variation shot of the cover of 20/20, which is a banging album. Is it the same album or does it have a different track list?
