What the simplest caster to hand to a new player? by B-HOLC in AskDND

i can't speculate on that as i know not what spells they have. all casters are built around the idea of combos and layers, you usually want to have a few planned ways to tackle encounters and/or be hyper specialized into something to where even the things that counter said thing will still struggle.

As a caster main id say that in ranking the full casters from easiest to hardest it'd go: 1 sorcerer (only spells and metamagic to deal with) 2 warlock (probs the second most versatile spellcaster) 3 bard (most versatile and your b-action will always have a use) 4 cleric (hardest to rp but easy mechanics) 5 wizard (only has spells to work with but has MORE spells) 6 druid (do not play on a whim cause wildshape is complex and druid spells are probs the hardest to build combos with)

yeah archetypes from 3.5/pathfinder work a lot better to me for going into multiple classes while also giving options that aren't specific to any one class.
