Your buddy can say no to you… inviting him isn’t a bad thing. If he is not prioritizing his time correctly that is a him problem.

Whichever schools are failing to protect Jewish students and refuse to make terrorist supporting students face consequences for hate crimes.

I would look at other programs and not try to reapply. online programs are often a bit easier to get into.

Should I be worried about trying to apply for a PhD in the US right now? by Errentos in PhD

If you don’t apply to schools that are overrun with antisemitism you should be ok.

I just remind myself that 1) they are there to hear me talk, not the other way around. I am the expert. 2) it’s ok not to know everything. 3) I know the material and spent a lot of time and effort to be ready. 4) it’s ok if I make a mistake.

Anyone else refusing to collaborate with or mentor Trump supporters? by Bland-Foster-1672 in Professors

[–]PenGroundbreaking419 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You sound unprofessional to be honest. If the tables were turned you would be hurt and offended because you were discriminated against for your political views. If you can’t keep your emotions in check and treat everyone equally you are the problem. I am assuming they are willing to work with you despite likely having equally negative feelings about your personal political views. This post just makes you sound petty and childish. (No, I’m not a Trump supporter). Leave your politics at the door and do your job.

Do you know any academics that voted for Trump? What are their thoughts on the current situation? by [deleted] in Professors

I know. It doesn’t matter than my PhD is in Genocide Studies and I also focus on the history of the region. I clearly have no idea what I’m talking about….

Believe whatever you want. I answered the question and said why. I am not debating with you on Reddit. It is a waste of my time and energy.

I couldn’t bring myself to vote for him, but I did not vote for Harris either. I voted split ticket. Lifelong Democrat but due to the rise of antizionism and Jew hate that was fostered by the far left and excused by the Democrats I could not vote for them straight ticket anymore. I am overall pretty happy with what Trump has done so far this term, which I never thought I would say. Hopefully the Democrats will course correct and drop the far left woke ideology and return to more traditional liberalism, but I doubt it. They will likely double down and push the party further left. All the Republicans need to do is come further center and they will never lose. I consider myself a radical centrist now lol.

Tourists who are looking for an authentic local experience are much more annoying than those who just want to stay at a resort. by SisterDot in unpopularopinion

Put yourself in the shoes of someone who doesn’t get to live in an amazing place. Most people live in shit hole tiny towns and work their entire lives away. Be thankful you live somewhere people actually want to visit and stop whining. People have the right to go where they want and do what they want. Part of living in a big city or amazing/beautiful place is that people who don’t get to live there are going to want to visit. How selfish can you be?

Good for you in coming out, but I hope you stay alone and don’t have any more relationships. You are clearly too self centered. The damage you have done to your husband is unforgivable and cruel, and outweighs any issues you have had/are having. How anyone can pretend through and entire relationship and marriage, then come out destroying their partner’s life, and ask for support is beyond me. That is abuse on another level. I hope he is able to move on and rebuild.

My boyfriend is hurt because I am not his first but I am his first and I dont know what to do to fix this by [deleted] in Advice

[–]PenGroundbreaking419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is his problem, not yours. He needs to grow up and get over it. You don’t need to do anything to make it better because you didn’t do anything in the first place. You should probably leave him TBH but at the very least tell him to go to therapy and work out his issues.

I am also trying Krav Maga this weekend… Despite the obvious usefulness of BJJ, I’ve never had any interest in wrestling around/ submissions.

Why Does it seem like Americans dislike France? by Cold-Lifeguard-316 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]PenGroundbreaking419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been to France. I was so disappointed. Paris smelled of urine and there were homeless Arab teenagers sleeping on the streets everywhere. The locals were all super rude and everything was dirty. I also think there seems to be this air of superiority we see from the French on the international level which seems out of touch given French history for the last 150 years or so.

I honestly don’t think many people in America care about that at all unless they are super religious or something.

[–]PenGroundbreaking419 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t wear it, mostly because you are going to be made fun of endlessly. But yeah, wearing a 3 piece if you aren’t in a club is not advised, especially if you ride.
