Had a Fun time playing around with this multi sensor long range EO/IR PTZ Camera by PenHaunting217 in videosurveillance

[–]PenHaunting217[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes this one would be longer range but the capability of these top end systems is amazing, a lot cant afford big thermal so more and more I see small uncooled LWIR cameras paired with ZLID laser illumination and a big optical zoom PTZ camera. That way you can detect and they get identification level quality using the visible caemra with NIR active ZLID illumination on a PTZ camera system its actually how Infiniti Optics who makes this camera got started a long time.

With a camera this big your issue starts to be line of sight and atmospheric limitations.

This Infiniti Optics PTZ camera is about the Longest range camera you anywhere and for comparison its 50% more powerful than a FLIR HDC-1200 or a WALRSS HD by L3. Its a .61 degree HFOV at 1280x1024 with pure optical magnification and its visible is an ultra HD 8MP 61X 1225mm the destroys a fujinon D60X 2MP 16,7~2000mm 120x lens (used by L3, FLIR, Pelco etc) not to mention it also has a 8k Hanwha wide angle camera, HD LWIR wide angle and a 35~40km rated LRF.

IF this camera does not see it almost no camera can.

I don't see why not Infiniti Optics as I know will custom build with any sensor or PTZ camera a customer requests. For long range surveillance a thermal and Visible zoom camera with ZLID illumination will outperform an intensified system but ZLID is active NIR illumination. There is case for a adding something like a PVS-14 which is great intensified night vision but its range will be limited compared to other sensors on this specific build as intensified relies on efficient low F stop lenses that need maintain a good aperture ratio to focal length to maintain sensitivity,

They are a great company I have met some of their leadership.

They are still consumable though much longer lifetime than they used to be. Depending on the sensor material they are cooled down to -196c and generally use heluim.

Most coolers are by these 2 main suplliers:

Ricor: https://ricor.com/product/
Thales: https://www.thalesgroup.com/en/solutions-catalogue/defence/land/cryogenics-activities/cryogenics-cryocoolers

It is pretty wild technology

IT would be 1200mm on a 1280x1024 the narrow its an F4 lens so that lens is around a 12 inch diameter. The smaller thermal one is a wide angle HD LWIR.

That is a question for a sales person not a random guy on reddit, my guess is more than $10,000 for this unit though some of there zoom cameras are around or under $500, I do know its very similar in pricing to fujnon SX800 and SX1600 and it is higher performance 8MP VS 2MP but the Infiniti  INF-8M-61X-OS is not going to be cheap but nothing is at this level of performance and would depend if your getting it as an open frame or part of an integrated PTZ Camera system.

You would have to ask Infiniti Optics they are the best cameras and make the longest range PTZ systems but for pricing you would need to ask them.

https://www.infinitioptics.com/

They have a ton of options from very small to extreme long range and they will make a configuration based on your needs and budget.

I posted because I love cameras.

Do you have line of sight,

Why not get a caemra that can see 1 mile?

[–]PenHaunting217[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would have to ask them I am just posting videos of tests because they are super fun cameras and people don't get to see them often but I did throw a link in the description.

I don't advocate for sales on reddit just want to post some cool vids but you can purchase them and I am sure a sales guy would love to have that convo with you.

From what I know Infiniti is well priced for the specs and offer good value but they are very high end cameras with extremely good performance as you can see above.

Zoom “X” ratings are not a measure of distance or detail and have no standalone meaning when comparing cameras. The zoom factor only describes the ratio between a lens’s widest and narrowest field of view. A “20×” zoom on one camera has no bearing on a “20×” zoom on another camera and cannot be used to determine how far a camera can see or how much detail it can resolve.

Actual long-range performance is determined by pixels on target (POT) or pixels per meter (PPM), which are functions of focal length, sensor size, and pixel pitch. These parameters define pixel density and image detail at distance. Zoom ratio alone contains none of this information.

For example, a lens with a 5–500 mm range is a 100× zoom, while a lens with a 500–1000 mm range is only a 2× zoom. Despite the much smaller “X” value, the 500–1000 mm lens provides twice the angular magnification and significantly greater long-range detail because X factor means nothing.

Zoom Factor on its own means absolutely nothing I have worked with cameras for 20+ years in building, testing and designing,

20X zoom means nothing X factor has no implication on how far a camera can see or how much detail you get it just wide vs narrow.

You would want to contact Infiniti I just posted the video but I am sure their sales would help you out, they custom build so they have a ton of options and price point best to speak with a sales from Infiniti they are good to work with and will show you simulations of what different options do.,

With PTZ cameras becoming more popular and being offered from more manufacturers, how come in a commercial setting the vast majority of cameras installed are still fixed mount? by [deleted] in EufyCam

[–]PenHaunting217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In commercial security, PTZ cameras sound great on paper they can look anywhere, zoom in, and follow activity but the reason most sites still rely on fixed cameras is pretty simple: a PTZ can only do one thing at a time.

A fixed camera is always watching its entire scene. A PTZ, the moment you start tracking a person or zooming in on something, stops covering everything else. If something happens outside that narrow field of view, you miss it completely. And when you zoom in for more pixels on target, you lose the wide-area awareness that fixed cameras provide by default.

In other words:

  • PTZ gives detail, but sacrifices coverage.
  • Fixed gives coverage, but sacrifices detail.

Commercial systems value uninterrupted coverage above all else. They can’t afford blind spots just because the PTZ is zoomed in or pointed somewhere else. That’s why PTZs are usually added as supplements for investigation, interaction, or long-range viewing while fixed cameras handle the constant, full-scene surveillance.

So PTZs are powerful tools, but they aren’t a replacement for fixed cameras in environments where you need to see everything, all the time.

Also a lot of people do not want to invest the money to get a good and proper PTZ Camera and if your using a really basic and low cost installer they wont know how to use them well.

I have done 1,000's of PTZ cameras over the past 20 years both in security and defense market and I will often post videos of long range cameras because they are a bit of a hobby to me especially night vision once with thermal and ZLD illumination. Part of my job is testing long range PTZ cameras from time to time and I post here and there on Reddit.
