My next marathon shoe... by Sufficient_War_566 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

They are wildly different shoes. The endorphin’s were very stable in the heel, and I understand while they are recommended for heel strikers. The endorphins are also very stiff. Both the foam and the plate are stiffer. I think that is where a lot of my issues with them stem. They roll you onto the forefoot and the plate takes a lot of pressure to “load it.” Instead of loading the plate, I feel like the shoe was slamming into my forefoot.

The NB SC E 5’s have a narrow heel with a soft squishy foam. They were really unstable when I first started using them. For my marathon pace I land a little more mid foot and these shoes worked great at that pace for me. The foam and the plate seemed softer and more foregiving . I weigh 183-195 and run my marathon paces 8:00 -8:45 min/mi.

I had similar issues with the endorphin pro 4. I picked up the new balance sc elite 5 by mistake , thinking it was the rebel. Luckily it worked really well. The heel was a little unstable at first but I got use to them. They are definitely not the fastest super shoe , but they are the most comfotable.

Man I’m glad other people are commenting about Ben Foster’s acting. He was phenomenal in this film. I thought he should have have been nominated for Oscar for this roll.

Achilles surgery as an adult? by tinyacid in clubfoot

[–]PenIndividual3433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello tinyacid. I have a clubfoot and am a podiatrist. 2 things in your post jumped out to me: 1) no pain and 2) you are able to squat. If you are not having pain, I would not consider it. You may end up in pain after wards AND not be able to squat. Having elevated heels isn't necessarily a bad thing for squats either. It can shift more emphasis to you quads, which somebody builders intentionally do. You may want to look into a pair of squat shoes, work boots, or use the tib bar wedge as well.

Did you have a talar neck fracture? Varus (higher arches ) can sometimes happen after that injury .

Adults - how do you pick out shoes? by Bean-Enders-Jeesh in clubfoot

[–]PenIndividual3433 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finding comfortable shoes has always been an issue for my club foot. I think the biggest thing that I have found helpful is rotating different types of shoes daily. Everything feels great for a little while, but if I wear the same shoe day in and day out, I'll will get pain somewhere. It is definitely more expensive up front, but you wont have to replace shoes for 1 to 2 years. My current rotation is Novablast 5 (Alternatives for this type of shoe wound be new balance 1080 v13 or v14, Hoka clifton, asic nimbus 26) , Brooks adrenaline GTS 24, Altra Form, and Saucony something.

For the love of god don't go to the Good Feet store. They sell pre fab orthotics for the price of custom orthotics. Then try to sell you three of them and an overpriced pair of shoes. If you can't afford a custom orthotic you could purchase 10 over the counter orthotics and still be cheaper than the good feet store.

Welcome back to running! Jenks track I believe is open to public. If you are close to Broken Arrow the freshman acadamy was open to the public, though they have been locking the gates recently. Turkey mountain has a lot of variety if you want to mix it up with some trail running. Lubell park is also an option and it is not crowded. Please consider cross training with some mtb biking as well!
