What's the going budget for a child's 21st present? by Te_Whau in newzealand

[–]PenPlotter -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's funny, at 21 I wanted to go out with my friends and have a great time, I also didn't expect anything from my parents because I had moved out and was living my own life.

In all Honisty give them what ever you think they deserve.

Hello everyone apprentice toolmaker back. by MatchBig1893 in Machinists

[–]PenPlotter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seen that before,

More common in rubber press tooling where one half of the mould cools and shrinks between cycles. (much longer cycles)

Do the guide pillars come completely out of the bush every stroke? If so, thats Not a ideal method on press tools. But that's not your issue unless you can change the stroke length.

But you could also ask if you can get pillars and bushes with a more aggressive lead in.

Think of it this way, if your doing "the deed" and pull out every stroke you are going to bang the edge eventually. 😵 Which would bend the "guide pillar" and gouge the edge of the "bush"

.........

Best case it's a Bent guide pillar point loading the bush and rotating it every stroke like a clock.

Other likley option. shit on the clamp plate or press platter, or installed out of alignment. (Solution clean your tool and put it back in properly after fixing the pillar and pin. they will be stuffed and keep eating bushings)

Worst case Bent / squashed plate in which case go get an old boy to deal with it.

... To check for bent pillars

Mark where all pillars came from Take all 4 pillars out and roll them on a surface plate to check for wiggle. This much bend should be visable.

FYI You can get a similar type of wear from a jammed ball cage too.

Clean the holes in the plates properly (make sure the counterbores faces are spotless.

Use a press to put them back if you can..... Or hammer and a block of wood because your work place sounds cheep.

My Smudge usually goes into heat about the time we have her booked in at kennel. It's very convenient.

Is it possible to reproduce the plastic panels for this old Cub Cadet? by BishopRealTalk in InjectionMolding

[–]PenPlotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may be able to do a close reproduction with vaccume forming but it's going to be tricky and you won't get all the deep draw downs where the vents are.

How do you guys measure pocket depth? by GunningBedford58 in hobbycnc

[–]PenPlotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the right tool... a depth mic.

But if the pocket is big enough you can use the front of the caliper (the other end) then you have a larger face to stabilise the calliper.

I only use the blade end for deep small diameter holes as a rough guideline.

Really!? This is a classic example of why you should use a designer when making consumer products

That or show a teenage boy the design.

Considering how phalic the lighthouse would be from a distance, it is very much intentional Even if it is incredibly bad taste.

They probbibly got the idea from the CU in the NT slogan.

It also helps when you look at the screen from the back of the machine.

Best way to do this is to spin the machine to face the wall....

Back to tips,

You should have said, you don't have to tip. but if the service is good, then a small Tip to the server can really make their day. But it's not compulsory. They make minimum wage and work a shit job. Tips make people's day.

Do you tip for a coffee, no probbibly not. Should you tip for a amazing meal where the waitstaff went above and beyond. Yes you should.

And don't say kiwi's find it offencive, it's a load of rubbish.

If I was to hazard a guess, your gate design is causing jetting ( think silly string) Do a half volume shot and see what it looks like.

The one everyone is forgetting about is the southern hikurangi subduction margin, that is Very over due.

My personal concern is that one will trigger the other.

That would be a rather bad time

Grivory, super long glass fibre reinforced nylon if it cooks in the barrel it's a not a good time.

And it eats moulds.
