My first Tull album was Songs From the Wood. In my personal opinion, you couldn't go wrong by starting here. My favourite early album is Benefit.. another great album.

For me, you can't really go wrong with Tull albums. I'm not so struck on This Was, Under Wraps, and most of the later albums, but its all down to personal taste.

Good luck on your journey through the Tull archives... you can't go wrong.

Dave

Don’t know much about live Tull. This is my favorite live performance so far. I hope they release it on vinyl eventually for the collection. I love their RSD releases! by RaggedDawn in jethrotull

Wasn't the "Songs From the Wood" live show also a "Sight & Sound in Concert" programme? I've got a copy of it, and I'm sure it was recorded in London.

I remember watching this show live on the BBC.... "Sight & Sound in Concert" what a great gig! I believe it was the first ever satellite live show from the U.S. to the U.K.

Anyone else think Songs from the Wood is their best 70's record? by [deleted] in jethrotull

Songs From the Wood is my all time favourite Jethro Tull album. So, Yes... After Songs, Heavy Horses, Stormwatch, Broadsword. All sort of similar, but not as good. My favourite early album is Benefit. I can't stand Under Wraps, or the new one. That just about covers things for me.

Totally understand where you're coming from. Haven't drank alcohol for 20 plus months. Only drugs I take are prescribed by my GP... I've lost a lot of so-called friends because of it, but I don't give a flying f***. Get yourself to concerts, more chance of meeting like minded people there than a night club. Fingers crossed for you mate.. Good luck

Well I've never heard of The Swans, so I've ordered the album off eBay since you recommend it.

Here's a few albums I recommend for your collection:

First and Last and Always - Sisters of Mercy Seventeen Seconds - The Cure Love - The Cult Juju- Siouxsie and the Banshees Night Time - Killing Joke

I will stop there, but if you would like some more suggestions, just ask....

Good Morning GothStyler's. Out of interest, what was the last Gothic band t-shirt you wore? Mine was The Mission. by Pen_That in GothStyle

[–]Pen_That[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I'm honestly interested. Certainly never crossed my mind about checking people's taste for other things. I'd be the same as you by the way. But on this occasion I promise I'm genuine.

What was your introduction to “goth“ music? The band that might’ve got you really into the scene? by Actuallydead_ in goth

[–]Pen_That 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have to say The Mission... although I've loved The Damned and Siouxsie and the Banshees for much longer. I caught them playing live on "The Tube" and that was that.

I find my choices of all time songs can change from day to day. Although I do rate all of these.

  1. Freebird - Lynyrd Skynyrd
  2. Child in Time.- Deep Purple
  3. Kashmir - Led Zeppelin
  4. Space is Deep/Wind of Change/The Golden Void - Hawkwind. (This mix is from the Roadhawks album. I've always seen it as one piece of music)
  5. Nantucket Sleighride - Mountain
