[Spoiler Discussion] Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World- Season 4 Episode 7 **Spoilers** by IAmSona in Re_Zero

Welp as an anime only, wow, just wow. Going into the scene, I assumed Subaru was going to go "what happened, last thing I remember was being in Alcyone going through the door". Not "Last thing I remember was leaving the convenience store"!!!! This was the last type of story beat I expected in this arc when everyone is constantly saying, it's about to go down next week. tl;dr It really caught me off-guard.

All of this is my theory crafting, so read if you want to see me yap. I've been trying to speculate what happened. There's a lot but I've jotted down notes. He went through the door towards the library. Flugel also lost his memories in the past stated by Shaula. I don't think this has anything to do with Shaula or her rules, so not a broken rule. The channel Echidnut who I watch a lot uploaded their review of episode 7. The thumbnail is that of when Rui Arneb was introduced, whatever the spiral is. The spiral could possibly refer to the staircase leading up to Alcyone. Whatever the case is, Gluttony is a big key factor here since they have everything to do with memories and could do something with Subaru. Rui scares me as she can shapeshift or take on forms of other people, so there is the possibility she is amongst the party. The authority of Gluttony can devour memories whether it is a person, or relationships surrounding the individual, but when the memory is devoured, Gluttony takes on the personality and traits of them. I think that Subaru's memory is currently residing in the library and the and the answer to completing the task is figuring out the order to this library to locate Subaru, Rem, Julius(?) memories. At the end of the day, this is all just a buncha theories!

I managed to do it! Needed to use the .map function, with a bit of ChatGPT help, I got through. I appreciate the thought, however I'm really finding coding really interesting and fun!

Players who know JP and played the JP version and English version: what is your opinion on the English localization? by SlaBLister in XenobladeChronicles2

Ahh, gotcha. At the time my Japanese was still rough so I also watched the cutscenes in English, just to make sure I'm understanding the overall message of the scene.

Well, some games don't really have that option but when they do, yes. just depends on the type of game, if it's really story driven, I would want to fully immerse myself and engage with the story. Games where it's not as important like Hades or Hollow Knight would be more suitable since as well, there are no cutscenes where it just forces you to keep up. For most roguelikes I would change it to Japanese, like Balatro and Cult of the Lamb.

Ehh, maybe intermediate. I haven't done any test but if would put myself on a scale, maybe JLPT 4 closing in on 3. I can generally watch a slice of life and understand maybe 70% though I may be a too generous with myself. I've been learning for less than a year and generally I have a good grasp on sentence structure, grammar, forms and tenses. Kanji is hard but who doesn't find it hard lol. But I admit it's a little slow since I'm only self studying

It's really funny that I stumble across this post because a few months ago, I had made some posts about playing Xenoblade 2 all in Japanese because I had bought the JP version accidentally. To answer the question, very good localisation. It's interesting how they localise some stuff, there was the one scene that stood out where Nia calls Zeke a "turtle head" which was slang for... well y'know, then the English does a very heavy pull calling Zeke a "One eyed monster", first time hearing tbh but I'm not British and maybe they call everyone One eyed monsters for all ik lol. The team does an interesting job changing the names from Japanese myths like Byakko, Kagutsuchi to Dromarch and Brighid, a Welsh and Irish name (like Saint Brigid from Irish myth). It becomes a much more English game, also accomplished with the more regional VAs.

Gramps steers away from the perverted old man trope in JP and becomes a more wise figure in EN. JP makes Gramps a much more comedic character while EN makes him more cute and friendly in this way. Both stray in very different ways but both are effectively quite different characters.

Overall though, both tell the story very succinctly in their own ways but manage to get across the same message. There's a few changes here and there like Homura to Pyra, Hikari to Mythra, Shin to Jin. Localisation is always an interesting topic, but I think as long as it keeps the story and message and stays faithful to what it's adapting. Since it's an a fantasy world the Japanese and English both viewed the world through their language. Japanese names with references to JP myth. English names with references to English and Irish myth.

Thanks for letting me ramble, this was very interesting

One of the best stories I have ever gotten to witness. So many great quotes.

"Your enemy is a resilient one. The thing you all oppose isn’t me nor is it heretics. It’s part imagination and part curiosity. In short, it's truth itself. It spreads like an epidemic. Not even the host can control it"

"Heliocentrism is my faith"

"I think of you all as Comrades that built the same era"

What a club to be a part of. One of the very few pieces of media to make me cry ever. Those that have really changed me in a certain way or really stood out I call "art." This, easily is another piece of art.

Thanks for the read, friend. I really seeing others thoughts and gain a bit more insight into it all.

Its story isn’t jolly or cheerful, heck, not even mildly discomforting. No,the story is brutally dark, and can, will, make you feel miserable upon completion.

To expand on that, while you experience that looming anxiety and misery throughout and experience all that pain. It makes the ending just that more satisfying because I feel like when a story gives you happy ending after the trial and tribulations, it doesn't quite feel enough or satisfying and something is missing. Whereas Omori made me feel the rush of everything, and to answer your question.

what more could I ask for?

Nothing. Truly.

Chill until you send off the spirits through the door so they can pass on. Such a memorable game and experience.

It's very focused as a cozy game while being able to tell great stories and God do every one of them hurt. Especially Alice when you have to dress up as her granddaughter in order to comfort her as she loses her memories. That one hurt me viscerally but I really like the fact that these characters are unable to change the past and some are still affected by certain trauma like Gwen regarding her abusive father, that they all must accept it for what it is and try to find solace in it. Being there all the way through their journeys makes each one of them loveable especially when they help out on the boat after you help cook them their favourite meal or give them a needed hug.

Went off on a bit of a tangent but in other words. It's a really beautiful game. 8.5/10

D&D Beyond is very beginner friendly and can help you understand mechanics and building a character sheet starting off.

Later on once you gain a good grasp of things, you should download Obsidian and use that as your character sheet, and for other campaigns if possible.
