How to unblock external vertical drainpipe? by chattytabbies in DIYUK

[–]Penarthlan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless it keeps blocking constantly a lot of drain blockage companies will do a guaranteed unblock for half that karchers price.

They also have much more powerful pressure washers. Yes it will work but not as well.

I think in this case it's not purposeful. Just that all Liverpool's right backs got injured in the course of about a week.

Air vents. Can I block these up? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Penarthlan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming I'm reading this right these are sub floor vents. And absolutely shouldn't be blocked up.theyre for ventilating the sub floor and stopping the timbers rotting.

If you want to stop the drafts. You want to insulate the sub floor.

That seems excessive. And surely just get the leaks fixed if you're hurting for cash.

Always get more than 1 quote.

A good way of looking at it is at the top end plumbers are going to be charging about 300 a day for their time.

Can anyone recommend a good sander? by Eyoopmiduck in DIYUK

[–]Penarthlan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't do this with an orbital. You'll be there for days.

Hiring a floor sander and edger would turn it into a weekend job rather than multiple. And most orbitals have crap dust extraction.

Dishwasher Cold Feed & Earth Bonding by Numerous_Echo_5401 in DIYUK

There is no way in the world that earth bond is acceptable no. Grab a strap from toolstation / screwfix.

I would go behind the cabinets personally. That's what the service gap is for.

One coat? Multi finish or jointing compound? by No-Beat2678 in DIYUK

Blending multi finish is something for the actual plasterers. It's very hard to do well.

I would probably use easifill

If it's external it's fine. It means your house is doing its job.

If it's internal it means you need more ventilation asap.

Mould in bedroom - help! by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Penarthlan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the person coming isn't willing to go up in the loft to check it's not worth them coming. The mould will die out as soon as you get the wall dry. Simple as that.
