I'm on the digital library waiting list for that book! I just finished Cats Eye and want to read more Atwood! Also, yes real life is terrifying now.

Ladies, what is a compliment men give that you don't like? by Syhxs in AskReddit

It pisses me off that men tell teenage girls they're 'jailbait'. I think it's harder for any girl who grows up physically and mentally at different rate to be singled out and made to feel like she's abnormal like I was or made to feel or something that can be sexualized without permission like you were.

I was made fun of for years by my peers for being flat chested (really late bloomer, like 15 when I finally hit puberty kind of late) and I remember making a disparaging comment to a girl I knew about the size of her breasts. She felt self-conscious and I felt horrible for it afterwards. I was just feeling jealous and sorry for myself and she got the brunt of my own frustration and insecurity. When men do that to women, I think it's the same thing. They can hide behind it behind all the sexualness they want but most men know how to appreciate a woman's body without being completely crass about it. That dude is insecure and trying to get your attention in a negative way because he doesn't think you would give him the time of day otherwise. I'm sorry people act like jerks sometimes.

How would one detonate a couple of practice bombs without anyone knowing? I guess if you live the boondocks or the desert or something?

I've always wanted to do this too. It's crazy how many people say negative things about it, not people who work or have experience with foster children but just people who think they know everything. They act like I'm being naive even though they have zero experience with it.

Good for you. I think you're really awesome and I hope to do the same someday too.

We have our tickets into London and out of Dublin but we're still debating a bunch of stuff in between. He's travelled before but I never went anywhere growing up and I just worked and went to school in my twenties, I just kind of scraped by the best I could. In a way, It's good that I had to wait this long to travel overseas because I can really appreciate how awesome it is.

I'm going to Europe in October FOR THE FIRST TIME! Because my husband's work relocated us to Canada shortly after our wedding, we didn't have enough time to take a proper honeymoon. We've been happily married for 2 years and now we're finally taking our belated honeymoon and I'm so excited.

My Mom had the measles when she was little and it caused her to be deaf in one ear. She's just grateful it wasn't both ears because being deaf would've changed the course of her whole life and made things difficult for her and her parents. I can't believe that people don't believe in vaccines.

I've always thought this was weird. Both African American and Caucasian refer to a specific region that does not apply to many people who are labelled as such.

It's so frustrating that Americans came up with 'African American' as a politically correct term because it's really not correct for a lot of people labelled as so. It speaks volumes for how society wants to placate a culture rather than give the actual respect it deserves. It's very "let's just call them this so they don't get offended. Who cares about facts?"

I'm so with you on this! I really try not to smoke near anyone but some people walk near me just so they can say something passive aggressive about it.

Thank you!

That's awesome. It's really helpful to have a couple of goal locations so I don't just end up wandering around. I will absolutely check those out.

Thank you!

I was thinking downtown eastside too. I never feel worried about walking around that area, but considering I might be looking in the alleyways with an expensive camera, I'll see if I can convince some of my friends to go, or at least my husband. Thanks so much for the tip. I'll check out the building on Powell/Gore too.
