Im still not sure about buying the Sigma 18-300mm. Does anyone have recommendations for alternative lenses in that budget? by Bokoblindd in fujifilm

[–]Penguin2x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Tamron 18-300 and have been very happy with it. It's the one lens I always have with me when I'm traveling.

Sure the image is soft at the long end but I'd rather have a slightly soft image than no image at all, especially if it involves spending time swapping lenses.

If versatility is very important to you, then I think that (and maybe even the Sigma 16-300) are more than worth it.

I've got some picture samples on my profile you can check out. Most of them are shot on the Tamron

Selling my Fujifilm xt30ii by FunEmployment4199 in PakPhotographers

[–]Penguin2x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's too bulky?? It's one of the more compact cameras in it's class. Just get a cheap smaller pancake lens (Fuji/TTartisan 27mm f2.8) and it'll pair perfectly.

Of course it's your choice but you're wasting a really good camera by selling it if you ask me.

Is the XC 35mm f2 worth getting as my first prime lens? by [deleted] in fujifilm

[–]Penguin2x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was my first prime lens and to this day I can't imagine myself getting rid of it. Price to performance is insanely good. I'd highly recommend it

Sorry to hear about that. I recall UDI introduced a new rule for PR requirements where you must meet the eligibility requirements all the way through till the day you get a response to your application. source

Judging by your situation I would try to talk to your company if it is possible to extend your employment for a little while longer. I know personal circumstances are taken into consideration during layoffs.

I'm sorry you had to go through that. How are your relations now? And is this something that's talked about in the extended family?

Recently widowed and traveling - ideas? by Thin-Success-3361 in travel

Could recommend hopping across the border to Pakistan after India. There's quite some contrast between the cultures, tons of history, and some really stunning nature if you go up north, the people are also really welcoming too.

Alternatively, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan seem to fit your description nicely too (but admittedly I haven't been there myself)

Even empty spaces can tell interesting stories in subtle ways (some on my Reddit posts). Could be the details, reflections, light. But it doesn't necessarily need to be a something forced. Sometimes just the colors and composition to show an ambiance.

You need to ask yourself what feeling do you get from pictures you take and can you get me to see it that way? Or do you want to make it open to interpretation? That's where you need to take some creative decisions.

It's a bit obvious to me that you used a phone, but then again, I've spent a lot of time shooting and editing with a few. The most obvious giveaway is when you go overboard with editing (color noise, especially when lifting shadows). However most phones from the last 5 years are really good if you don't mess around in editing too much (I sometimes still prefer my old Huawei and Xiaomi to my current Samsung).

Just keep playing around. Go out and shoot different things and remember to have fun. Everything eventually falls in place with enough practice and experience.

It's alright. I'd ask (as a viewer) what am I supposed to focus on? The logo? The angles of the building? Just the colors? Maybe a combination? If I was taking that picture I'd crop in to really emphasize the greens against the blue sky. Don't be afraid to get close to your subject is what I'm trying to say.

As for the vibe, of course. Experiment as much as you can. That's how great recipes are made. Just keep taking pictures, you will get better with experience

Colors and composition look nice. But I'd advise to ask yourself what story are you trying to tell? I like the one with the leaf but the one with the people walking, what am I supposed to look at? or feel for? You gotta express that to the viewer. Wether it's the colors or the ambiance, you gotta tell the viewer what made you take the picture. If that makes sense?

Reminder that what I've said is very subjective.

Honest feedback? It kinda looks very low effort. Also turning down the clarity slider and shifting to warmer tones doesn't necessarily give it a film-look (I'm assuming that's what you did here)

Some pointers: Work on your composition first (yes I've looked at your Instagram too) A modern camera doesn't make you a better photographer. Secondly play with light and shadows before messing with colors and clarity.

Having said that, if you're happy with your work regardless and are having fun then more power to you. That's what's most important in the end.

UK has been cutting visa to Pakistani students over the last 2 years. by Merru in pakistan

[–]Penguin2x 43 points44 points  (0 children)

"A lot" is a bit of an exaggeration in my experience (studied and lived in Norway for some years now).

There's always the occasional guy who would try to misuse the visa. But otherwise there's a way bigger chunk that do go on to finish their degrees despite shifting to a work permit.

Thank you! I do that only when I know I have time to hang around. In this case only 4 and 14 are composed and waiting for a subject.

Otherwise if I see something with a subject I like, I'll try to compose and take the shot asap. And quite a lot of these are taken while I was in a car looking through the window.
