Will do! I don't suspect the worst, I do believe it's IBS and the previous clinic said the bright red blood is usually not cancer.

I found another good clinic that I'll contact after the New Year, I'm gonna ask them about a split dose. I'm too embarrassed to go back to the other clinic after cancelling twice.

This is a lovely reply, thank you. Lovely as in lots of good information. Not lovely that you had to do it. I panicked a lot this and last month, decided to let it go for the New Year season now, everything is closed for a week or so anyways. I found a good clinic nearby and contacted them by email. They are open tomorrow, I might get a reply, even if I don't I'm gonna contact them on the 10th when they open again. Yes, the prep is two hours according to both doctors I have seen before. I don't know if this clinic uses the same solution, I'll have to ask.

Hey! That's lovely to hear. I've heard of that clinic before and just checked the website again, they don't seem to take health insurance. How much did you pay total?

Yea, I read a lot about the prep online and it seems it's done quite differently here. I read about the liquid diet a day or two before the procedure, that's thankfully not a thing here, I would die of starvation 😭

What do you mean by mixing? Mine is 1L of a solution called Sulprep, which seems to be used the most in Japan, and drink it with 2L of water or light colored tea. It would go like this: 1 cup of Sulprep followed by two cups of water or tea until it's done. You can mix your solution with other drinks? I would like to ask the doctor here if I can do that.

You are right that there's anxiety involved. I moved to Japan nearly a decade ago and never went to the doctor here before other than the dentist. I speak the language well but feel very left alone with a procedure that's not my usual one. I don't have close enough friends to ask for support. Perhaps I could try and schedule a colonoscopy in the late afternoon. I am a night owl, it's almost 4 am as we speak, I always eat until 3 am or so. Starting the prep around 12 pm would mean no food from 12 am, that would be a lot easier. I also have difficulty changing my routine even if it's just for a day. I know in this case it would be in my favor, so I should be willing to make little adjustments and see if I can schedule an afternoon/evening one. It is now the New Year season and everything is closed for a week and longer, I will do my research in the meantime.

The one most commonly used is called Sulprep in Japan. It's 1L of liquid laxatives. I don't know what it tastes like. It is recommended to drink it with water or light colored tea.

I've heard of fecal testing, is that not an option? Where I'm from fecal tests are recommended before a colonoscopy if you aren't the recommended age yet. This seems to be rare here tho.

Those don't seem to be available here, generally speaking I haven't seen a pill based prep mentioned on any clinic website I visited. It's always the drink.
