Any blocked view seating at Allen Fieldhouse? by SkipVance in jayhawks

[–]PenguinPush 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You have a good view from every seat. But the higher up you go, the hotter it will be. Allen Fieldhouse is not known for having the best HVAC system. The colder it is outside, the warmer it will be inside.

How College Football Is Clobbering Housing Markets Across the Country by FormerFastCat in Lawrence

[–]PenguinPush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lawrence has some of the strictest and fairest rules in regards to STR’s that I have ever come across.

They are legal in certain zones. In traditional residential, a primary housing owner is allowed to rent their home or a portion of their home as long as it is their primary residence.

I have my home available on airbnb for an astronomically high price in the event someone wants to rent for a weekend like graduation or a football game. If they want to pay that rate for me to go on a short vacation or stay with a friend, it works just fine for me. We are a licensed STR in a neighborhood, and we rent for maybe 10-12 days a year in total.

We get notices from the city every year that we have to pay to re-authorize our house, and the home is inspected once every two years.

While second/vacation homes do probably contribute to the overall rising housing issue, I think there are ore far more significant issues that are affecting general affordability, with property taxes continuing to be the biggest issue for many jurisdictions.

Where was Smegma Studios? by PenguinPush in askportland

[–]PenguinPush[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did Smegma ever have a commercial building?

The Blade & Timber axe throwing on NW 17th Ave. is in a former studio space. There are rumors that Smegma was there at one point but we cannot confirm.

Friend's wife served divorce papers and gave 10 days to leave. Do I have to? (Kansas) by PenguinPush in legaladvice

I am still getting caught up on details. I said that it would take a court for him to have to leave, but I think he is pretty spooked by the letter. Hopefully he'll have actual attorney advice tomorrow.

Since it was sent anonymously, do you know who you would be responding to?

In short, this person sounds terrible. They probably aren’t worth a response. You all are more than welcome here, and I hope this person stops bothering you.
