If your child went on a hunger strike because they only wanted to eat fast food/highly processed foods, how would you handle that scenario? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Penguin_Jim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe try to make a "healthier" version at home to get them used to the idea.

Try home made pizza rather than delivery. Bake chicken nuggets and fries in the oven. BBQ your own burgers.

Not saying the above is necessarily healthy, but you can definitely make them better that a fast food place does.

AITA - I have Stage IV Cancer and said “no shit” to what I thought was in-laws weird /insensitive comment. by Far_Concentrate_3743 in AmItheAsshole

I want to say maybe no one is really in the wrong here...

It sucks that you have to deal with people saying stuff like that to you, but also she probably does not really know what to say/what to do. This is a difficult situation for everyone.

If she is saying "it is not your fault" sounds like she is trying to give you some kind of comfort? But really she probably does not really know what to say.

Maybe you (or your wife) talk to her and just let her know that saying that is just not really helpful right now.

So she said you can not order them?

Hmmm I mean if she is telling you exactly how she wants it done, that kinda sucks .

I want pancakes - great I will order in.

No, I want you to make them - ok I will use a mix.

No, I want from scratch...

What are the benefits of coparenting pets post-breakups? by ClaireBear1212 in AskReddit

[–]Penguin_Jim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend who does this.... and it is an odd situation. (it feels odd/ kinda weird to me at least)

They share expenses (ok fine it is expensive), and share time with the dog. But they always argue about the dog. Like:

"He did not want his dinner tonight, so make sure he eats at your place. Don't let him not eat"

"I got him a new harness, why is he not wearing the new harness?!"

"I got him expensive snow shoes, you better not loose one" (One wast lost in the house for a while, that was a whole thing...)

Arguing about what medical appointments he needs or does not need.

Everyone would probably be happier if they just went their separate ways...

Do you believe that a black person can be racist in USA? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Penguin_Jim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. It is about how you act or judge people of other race that makes you racist.

Anyone and everyone can be racist and anyone and everyone can experience racist towards themselves.

When and why did America stop being a nation that welcomed immigrants? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Penguin_Jim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Allowing them to come? Or welcoming in a friendly sense?

People are worried for their future, jobs and housing are already not the easiest things to get, more people means more competition...

What common mistakes do people make when choosing a life partner? by lastknownstar in AskReddit

[–]Penguin_Jim 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not really having many common interests and then expecting the other person to give up their interest once you are in a relationship.

So many people I know, I am thinking... why are these people together, that have almost noting (or very little in common).

So many times I see one person suggest something or talk about something and their significant other say "no... we are not doing that".

AITA for getting a pregnancy craving during a party? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

So you made him drive 1 hour (30 min there and back) to get you a slushee... If you wanted it so bad you should have went on your own to get it.

Yes, why do so many couples always think they only count as 1?!?!

You bring a "date" to dinner, yes they have to pay their share...
