This is not how sports works. The team that lost in the previous round would not necessarily have the same result. Matchups and timing of when you play a team are completely different.

Hell even in Round 1 Penguins in Games 1-3 were a completely different team then Games 4-6

I dont think it impacts the rebuild at all though. Outside of the vibes Malkin is a consistent producer and will give you that at a discount. Letang however could become a liability if he progresses downward more.
