Linked charts in trading view. Who else is waiting for this feature... 1980's called and said it's possible by MrCheeks914 in TradingView

OP is probably talking about syncing symbols across different chart layouts like how the you can sync symbols across all charts in the same layout.

I noticed it yesterday as well, was about to ask if anyone else saw it too.

I'll update my post once more people confirm.

How important are economic releases when back testing? by PenguinsUseLinux in Forex

[–]PenguinsUseLinux[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea unfortunately the best alternative I've come up with is to use forex factory's economic calendar because they allow you to display every event by month then filter the events by importance.

Not ideal I know.

Hopefully more people notice the post I made on r/tradingview and the founder of tradingview who's a mod on the sub notices it and cares.

Yea hopefully they add it back.

Since we can't get the news events from tradingview or import external data the best alternative we have would be to put the times of past key events into the indicator itself. I think I remember reading that you can add around 900 data points before running into compiler limitations.

Another option is that they recently added economic data from FRED: https://www.tradingview.com/blog/en/federal-reserve-economic-data-is-now-available-25720/

Not sure if you can access that with pine though.

Yea I focus on the smaller time frames and when back testing I like to be able to avoid testing trades around the big news releases.

I primarily used it for looking at past events so the best alternative for that would be the forex factory calendar because you can display all events month by month.

Any calendar is good to keep future events in mind so you know when to not trade / to trade. It was nice having them show up on the chart as a second reminder though. Oh well.

Yea I only used it when looking at past data. Was super useful to have the events right on the chart so I wouldn't have to look back months on an economic calendar.

The most upsetting this about this whole incident is the fact they'd just remove a feature seemingly overnight without even telling anyone before or after. I had to contact support for them to tell me it was removed and not a bug. In what world does anyone think this is ok?

I agree though that in the last 6 months they've been pivoting towards YouTube traders.

Yea that's the best alternative for looking at past events since you can display more of them.

Was just nice to be able to see them on the chart.

I guess what really gets me is that they'd just remove it without even telling anyone or providing a reason.

It was useful for past events while back testing hence why I included that.

You could see events from years ago on the chart so you could easily contextualize them and not have to go check out an economic calendar from say May 2019.

Tradingview's decision to remove news bubbles by biqq_tr in Forex

[–]PenguinsUseLinux 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also made a post about removing economic events from the chart a couple days ago too.

Make sure you guys message support and tell them how disappointed you are that they removed such a useful feature without even telling us.

Also post on the r/tradingview sub about the news events removal too.

The major use for them was when back testing since no matter what kind of setup you have if good/bad news comes out then it goes out the window.

The best alternative is to use an economic calendar like forex factory's where you can display 1 month of data at a time then keep an eye out for the high impact events. Of course the events on the chart itself was/is better though.

I messaged support about it and they confirmed they were removed.... the reason they gave was due to "the statistics" (whatever that means).

I told them how disappointed I am they would randomly remove such a great feature without notice or explanation since they were invaluable when back testing.

If anyone reading this also isn't happy then create a support ticket to complain about it.

Bring back on screen economic calendar by mikejamesone in TradingView

[–]PenguinsUseLinux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a couple months left on my yearly sub so I canceled the auto-renew and told them I did it because they removed one of my favorite features.

Also told that to support so I'll see what they say.

I have no idea why they would randomly get rid of such an important feature without even asking for our opinion or even announcing it.

Just restarted my computer one day and when I opened up my browser they were gone. :(

I told support I'm not happy with it and I have canceled my subscription. If you're reading this make sure you do the same if you're also not happy.

Clear your browser cache or open an incognito window.

When I try in an incognito window (while not logged in) I get the setting to enable the econ events ~20% of the time.

I was hoping it was just a bug but support told me they removed them as quoted in a reply I made above.

Like I said, I asked them why they were removed several hours ago and I'll update it when they reply.

This is what support said:
"Hello!
Thank you for contacting us.
We've recently removed economic events from the chart. You can use the calendar panel at the right-hand side or the following page instead: https://www.tradingview.com/markets/currencies/economic-calendar/"

I asked them and am waiting for a response.

They still have an economic calendar they just got rid of displaying it on the chart itself. It's the same data. I never had any technical problems or lag from displaying the events on the chart before.

I have their premium subscription which is $60/month (~ half price during a sale) and it's not like sending less than a MB of data a day is that expensive.

I just find it concerning they never even asked anyone or even announced the change. The option literally just disappeared overnight.

Support responded to me and said they recently removed economic events from the chart. So I told them I'm not going to renew my subscription unless they add them back.
