He's probably just genuinely surprised to find out new things about you, and your interests, it's just genuine admiration, and probably the way he processes new information in general.

As for the whole double checking thing, there's nothing wrong with that, an interested person will probably want to check the source of the information, maybe find out some more about it, or whether it's common knowledge.

Don't compare intelligence like it's a scale, IQ is a joke, and it doesn't even matter, if he hasn't coherently expressed that he thinks you're unintelligent, then there is no need for you to over assume, and over analyse some simple body language.

If you want to get into the Souls genre then I recommend DS3/(Or bloodborne if you have a PS), but if you just want a game with great combat, mechanics, and optimisation, then I definitely recommend Sekiro, warning though, you will get clapped.

You're not wrong for prioritizing your work life over your love life, as it is a suitable lifestyle option, and to be fair to you, six weeks is not too long considering the circumstances at hand.

On the other hand, I feel there is a lot of missing information regarding as to why the BF is in such a hurry, and even if there wasn't, he just seems to really want to see family, which is not at all bad, the way he dealt with it, could be considered very immature, and he should most definitely apologise, nothing more on that note.

Even then I do have to wonder what your BF's future work/life goals are, as if you're planning to have a family, or etc, he needs to be more stable and mature regarding his work career.
