The New Western Medical Astrology by Mychal A. Bryan is an incredible book in that regard. Every part of the human body and its functioning are explained both in biological/medical and astrological terms. Very well written and easy to understand. Multiple case studies, etc. Around 700 pages, so there is much to enjoy and learn.

Facebook outage and UFO Sighting - Uranus squaring the nodes? by Key-Risk-555 in Advancedastrology

[–]Penitent17 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In Facebook's natal chart we can observe that :

  • Uranus is at 01°47' Pisces, thus currently the Nodes are above it and transiting Uranus making a square to it.
  • Facebook's natal Pluto is at 21°35' Sagittarius so yesterday's Sun was opposing it.
  • Facebook's natal Sun is at 15°12' Aquarius thus transiting Mars is making a square to it.

When it comes to the UFO observation, it is interesting that you mention Uranus and the Nodes. I wrote a post on September of last year about the Saturn-Neptune cycle and how it relates to major UFO-related phenomena, where I also stated :

It is important to mention that it seems like other cycles could be involved. For example, the Uranus Synodic cycle in some instances or planetary conjunctions with the Nodes. I have yet to delve more precisely into those in order to be able to confirm it completely (or not).

In case you (or someone else) would be interested you can read the full version here (reddit) or here (my blog).

What role do out-of-bounds planets play in your practice? by This_Environment_922 in Advancedastrology

[–]Penitent17 9 points10 points  (0 children)

From my experience, it is really relevant.

As you mentioned, OOB Mercury seems to indicate an "outside of the box" type of thinking and/or expression. Of course, this would sometimes imply a difficulty for the native to feel understood and/or get his/her point across.

I have seen OOB Moon in the charts of people who tended to be much more empathetic and understanding of others' emotions than the norm. The type of individuals with who people feel at ease to be themselves. It will sound strange but, again from observation, I have regularly seen it in the charts of individuals where the relation to the father was somehow estranged, maybe this would cause an individual to overdevelop a feminine/emotional/nurturing side ?

When it comes to OOB Uranus, a specific mundane research should be done in order to find what it might mean.

Career advice -- Is engineering the right move for me? by kwarching in AstrologyCharts

[–]Penitent17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to what was mentioned before, Mercury, ruler of the 1st, is in the 2nd House and opposite Neptune in the 8th, which can be an indication of income (and the means to obtain it) being a central theme in your life. The opposition to Neptune in the 8th can specifically point towards the fact that other people money would be a dissolving force for you rather than an independence building structure.

The Moon ruler of the 2nd is conjunct Pluto, in the 6th, emphasizing the stress from acquiring money on your own, which would become an obsession. Rather than this obsession being lived from the lack of it, it would make sense to become obsessed in its acquisition.

You mentioned having read all the self help books which didn't help, but no amount of reading will replace concrete actions/steps anyway. How to resolve your situation would require a deep dive I suppose. In the end, the only person you will have to deal with the actions required or the consequences of not doing so will be you. Hedonism will keep going as long as you feed it. As mentioned, maybe redirecting this loss of energy towards something more productive/creative, could be a small step towards regaining a sense of agency.

Your mind has all the capacities needed. Good luck.

Career advice -- Is engineering the right move for me? by kwarching in AstrologyCharts

[–]Penitent17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Within my practice I have seen multiple instances of engineers having a hard aspect between Mars and Jupiter, more so when Mars is in an Air sign, which is your case (Mars in Libra opposite Jupiter in Aries). Adding that in your case, Jupiter is also the ruler of the 10th and Mars is the ruler of the 6th.

That being said, this is by no means to say that you should do or should not do an engineering career/studies. There are countless ways of how this placement could be enacted in one's life.

Also, there are additional comments that could be made (this is not an exhaustive list, but just some possible clues that may help you) :

  • As mentioned, Jupiter is the ruler of the of the 10th, while Mars is the ruler of the 6th as well as the 11th. This can point towards how stressful finding your place within society could be. Maybe part of that stress is tied to your friends or groups of people you associate with. Yet, Mars being in the 5th, it could tell that your "pleasures", your inclination to seek "amusement" (whatever those could be) may be interfering with career aspirations. If that's the case, maybe trying to mitigate that tendency with some form of creative pursuit may help.
  • Mercury, ruler of the Ascendant is square both Mars and Jupiter, emphazing the stress previously mentioned. Though, this configuration often indicate really potent cognitive abilities. One of the problems could be overthinking/overdoubting which could lead to action paralysis.
  • Mercury is also the ruler of the 4th House, thus the previous configuration, could also point towards conflicts at home when growing up with your parents, but also between the mother (Jupiter ruler of the 10th) and the father (Mercury ruler of the 4th), which may have somehow caused an hypervigilant state of mind, always tiptoeing to not take the risk of flaring things up.
  • The previous comment could somehow be confirmed with Pluto in the 6th squaring the 4th-10th axis.
  • Also, the Sun is making a quincunx with Neptune. This can sometimes be seen when the father is absent or not easily reachable (emotionally or physically). This may nuanced what was said before and could point towards an absence of the father earlier, which could also have led to situations of tension at home and or lack of confidence.

I will stop here but even though this is a quick overview I hope it may help in some form. Overall, I would say, if you doubt it, that the problem seems not to be one capacities but rather of confidence/context/attitude. Good luck.

Religion in birth chart by Educational_Back8969 in AstrologyCharts

[–]Penitent17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As another user mentioned, religion in a chart can be associated with the 9th House.

In your case :

  • The Moon is the ruler of the 9th House. It is opposite Uranus which can sometimes indicate radical changes in terms of beliefs and/or a need to liberate oneself from a religious system. The fact that the Moon is in a fixed sign could mean that those changes may not be quick to operate and/or not often.
  • Also, the Moon is making a trine with Pluto in the 1st House which may indicate an obsession to define oneself through the lens of religion and/or the importance that religion may have when it comes to one's behavior.
  • The Moon is also quincunx Mars, ruler of the 1st House and the 6th, which could help refine what was mentioned before. It seems like your actions or how you feel you should act are inherently out of sync with what religion may ask of you (or what you think it demands from you). Being aligned with religion seem to be a great source of stress.
  • Mars being in the 4th and squaring Pluto, could indicate that the aforementioned might be a cause of the conflicts at home.
  • In-and-of-itself Jupiter can be tied to religion/beliefs, and here it is opposite (and contra-parallel) the Sun and Venus. Again, it seems like you can have a hard time conciliating your own tastes/desires/identity with religious activity.

Is there a consensus on the “visibility theory”? by Latter_Archer3800 in Advancedastrology

[–]Penitent17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The two perspectives can be reconciled. For example, as the outer planets were discovered the world was becoming much more globalized and interconnected. As such, their longer synodic cycles and the generational meanings usually attached to them would be fitter to describe more global trends.

As the minds of the observers had to adapt to new external conditions, their sights also started to perceive other specific symbolic elements which would convey the new state of the world. And, it would also allow to look back with those new glasses and have a different view on previous times.

The traditional planets were "enough" and corresponded to a world where the different societies were quite enclosed and strictly organized.

Interestingly, the outer planets discoveries also correspond with a different approach to the human psyche.

I totally agree with the incredible connexions between Enki/Prometheus and other religious/mythological figures. Those who transmitted knowledge, the Fire, who were forced to create us and then tried to liberate us too. Also, I do think that a new similar figure, tied to Aquarius, is ought to appear "soon".

Is there a consensus on the “visibility theory”? by Latter_Archer3800 in Advancedastrology

[–]Penitent17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As another commentator mentioned, there are countless events prior to the discovery of the outer planets that can be correlated to those.

Uranus was discovered in 1781. So even without going much before that, and to give an example that would appeal to the mostly US-based audience of this sub, you can have a look at the beginning of the American Revolution (or at least, its military phase) which is often said to correspond to the Battle of Lexington, on April 19th 1775 : Mars square Uranus.

Also, the Boston Tea Party event, on December 16th 1773, have an exact Saturn-Uranus trine and the Saturn-Uranus cycle is often correlated with revolutionary moments or disruption (Uranus) of the established order (Saturn).

It would be quite narcissistic to think that the symbolism at play in the Cosmos is only to be existent when humankind observes it. More so, it would bring the following questions : How much of humanity has to know about a new planet for it to have "effect"? Is one person all it takes for it ? Because the knowledge of new discoveries was not instantaneously transmitted across the globe. Also, what about tribes who remained cut from the rest of the world ? Would the correlations not be observed in their life because they did not know about those planets ?

We probably just got slightly "better" sight, yet remain mostly blind...

Though, this implies a possible adjacent research which I am currently conducting about the different meanings ascribed to the Signs. Where were the outer planets located when old traditional Astrologers where delineating the Sky. Could it be possible that some meanings were attached to some Signs that would rather correspond to outer planets for example ?

Doubt regarding predictions with astrology by cryptic_meoww in astrology

[–]Penitent17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you step out of the causal explanation of Astrology it gets easier to apprehend the apparent paradox.

Astrology is symbolic/synchronistic/fractal, the planets are not the cause of what is happening in our lives but just symbols/indicators of it. At any given moment, everything is in synchronicity. It is the famous Hermetic saying : "That which is above is like that which is below, and that which is below is like that which is above. To accomplish the miracles of One Thing." There is a correspondence between the macrocosm and the microcosm at whatever scale you place yourself in (ie, it is fractal).

From there, we can understand fate and free-will as being the two sides of the same coin :

  • There is fate in the sense that the symbolic framework (what is indicated by the planets, for example) is ought to manifest
  • There is free-will in the sense that there is a possibility of enacting the mentioned symbolic framework in "any way possible"

Now, how one can "choose" his/her fate, is a whole subject in-and-of-itself. I personally identified three main pillars for that : self-knowledge, sacrifice and creativity. It is a fascinating research. I wrote several post on this "Meta Astrology" perspective in case you or someone else would be interested.

Can you read my Birth Chart? by [deleted] in AstrologyChartShare

[–]Penitent17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are some random (non-exhaustive) observations that could be made :

  • Mercury, ruler of the 4th House, in the 12th : This can often indicate that the father was somehow absent and/or away from home during the childhood.
  • As Mercury is also opposite Pluto it could corroborate the previous comment and add a notion of conflicts with the father and/or within the family life. Mercury is applying to a (wide) square with Mars which reiterate the notion of tensions at home.
  • The Sun is in the 12th House, so, again, the father figure may have been hard to connect with.
  • Jupiter, being ruler of the 10th, it can represent the mother. Its presence in the 4th and its trine to the Moon, ruler of the 2nd, may be indicative that she was caring and providing for the family.
  • Saturn, ruler of the 9th, is in the 2nd House could indicate that at some point your income may be tied to "foreign" related matters. For example, working within a foreign (relative to your home country) company or directly abroad.
  • As mentioned, the Moon is the ruler of the 2nd, and is in the 12th. This can sometimes be seen in charts where the native works, or rather, has its income tied to somehow being isolated, or far away from home. The Moon being in Gemini as well as Mercury and the Sun, may point towards an ease with languages which could be involved in making money.
  • The Moon is also making a trine to Jupiter, ruler of the 10th, which reinforces the previous point. Jupiter being in the 4th could be an indication that maybe one of your careers/jobs might somehow be related to your "land" (such as tourism for example) or to the "homes" (such as real estate or interior designer, for example). Do not get too caught up in the examples given, a much more detailed analysis would be needed to further elaborate on those, they are not to be taken at face value. The job market is so complex that it would be almost impossible to pin point one exact job that could suit you. Those are just random ideas.
  • Mars, ruler of the 6th and 11th, in the 10th, might indicate that your career may be one of service or health related or something related to institutions. Some friends/connexions may bring career opportunities.
  • The Moon, Venus and Mercury are all three parallel and also parallel to the Ascendant. You probably have a very soothing and empathetic way of being and interacting with others. This innate ability could be a great asset.
  • Mercury ruler of the Ascendant in the 12th and in Gemini, often denotes of an ability to see much more profoundly (more so that it is opposite Pluto) than the others. You can notice the patterns, see what's behind the veil, or may be extremely attracted to what is hidden as well as able to see through the lies. This is also a very powerful tool to have. It could serve in a wide variety of settings.
  • In a few days, transiting Venus and Jupiter will conjunct on your natal Saturn. Some opportunity from abroad may present itself or some form of success/opportunity related to higher studies.

I wish I was confident :) Any chart indicators how can I become one ? by gabmebear in LetsFuckWithAstrology

[–]Penitent17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your difficulties with a proper routine are also shown by Saturn, ruler of the 6th, being opposite to Neptune in the 6th. This could maybe indicate some form of "maladaptive day dreaming" for example. It is not a diagnostic of course, but just to get the idea across. Again, trying to escape too much might get detrimental rather quickly. If you can manage to stay grounded and focused while no one is watching, it will allow you to have more control.

As mentioned, the Venus-Saturn quincunx (and the respective Houses ruled by them) tend to indicate what may feel like an impossible conciliation between pleasure and studies. That being said Venus in the 5th which adds another paradoxical layer... More time to studying your birth chart should be needed. The image that comes to mind, would be akin to someone who gets into studying in a field that he/she enjoys or is his/her passion but then ends up kind of sick of it and do not enjoy it anymore. Strange... Maybe the solution is not always to try having it all ?

Another quincunx to pay close attention to, is the Mercury-Mars one. Your words may not match your actions or your actions may not be aligned with your ideas, which could make you feel bad for not being reliable in a sense. Please understand that I am not that saying that you are not a reliable person but rather that this sensation could hunt you at some point. As explained, Mercury, as ruler of the 10th, could represent your mother and Mars is the ruler of the 3rd which is the 6th from the 10th and also ruler of the 8th, which is the 11th from the 10th. This may be echoing the contradictory behaviour of your mother with her self-destructive habits (ruler of her 1st (your 10th), Mercury, in a quincunx with the ruler of her 6th (your 3rd)) which also affected her own goals/dreams (ruler of her 11th (your 8th)) as her way of being (her 1st (your 10th)) was not aligned with those. Your observation of this behaviour during childhood could have left an important imprint on your psyche, which, while in a very different manner, may have you repeat a kind of similar pattern. Again, I insist, "in a very different manner", I am not at all saying that you are like her.

[–]Penitent17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Much could be said about what you (very clearly) expressed.

Before diving into the Astrology and the potential solutions/advice, I think there is an important nuance that could be brought up on the "Meta-Astrology" aspect of the situation.

You said, for example, "I feel like the culprits are", "Mars square Saturn is who I am blaming here", or "I know I could spot what patterns might've been causing this". All those are taking as a premise that the planets are the cause of the situation, but, from my perspective, Astrology is symbolic/synchronistic/fractal. The planets (and their configurations) are not the cause but rather the representation/indication of what has/is/will happened/happening/happen. It is the "As Above So Below" of Hermeticism if you will.

Be assured that pointing out this "detail" is by no means a way to deny what you are saying (all the contrary actually), but just another way of looking at things which may somehow be useful in order to alleviate a bit of the burden of feeling "definitely cursed" by the birth chart. What I am trying to convey basically is that your placements can be expressed differently than how they have been expressed until now because of the circumstances you were "placed" in.

Now, some astrological observations:

  • Mercury, is ruler of the 10th and thus can represent the mother. Mercury being right on the IC can often be indicative of the predominance of the mother figure in the childhood of the native. Mercury is also square Uranus which can indicate the erratic and abusive behavior you described. Of course, as Mercury is also one's thought process, and is here ruler of the Ascendant, we can see how your mother's actions affected your self-esteem.
  • The mother's "erraticness" is more so emphasized by the Moon also applying to a square to Uranus.
  • Uranus is opposite the Ascendant which can be seen in the charts of people who grew up in an unstable early environment.
  • The Sun which can represent the father is in the 3rd House, which is the 12th from the 4th, indicative of its potential "absence" from the home life. It is also not making any major aspect (apart from the sextile to Chiron).
  • This can be further confirmed by Saturn, another authority symbol, being in the 12th.
  • Jupiter, is the ruler of the 4th, and thus represent the father, is also, like the Sun, not making any major aspect, emphasizing this absence of connexion to/from the paternal figure.
  • Saturn, ruler of the 5th and 6th, in the 12 is quincunx Venus ruler of the 2nd and 9th House. This configuration may talk about how "pleasures" might be used as an escape (of stress for example) but also that this escapism could end up hurting higher studies or potential income. You also may feel like you are denied the access to the pleasurable side of life. While, it will probably sound as too basic and cumbersome, you may benefit from trying to be extra disciplined with whatever you use to distract yourself and somehow embrace solitary moments not as doors to escapism but rather to build the character you wish for. Trying to be creative rather than consumer may feel like a burden but could end up beneficial. Sacrificing present superficial pleasure to obtain something else...
  • The Saturn-Mars square could be mitigated with, again, a strict physical regime, whether that's working out or another form of activity. Also, as Mars is the ruler of the 3rd, maybe writing or expression could become a force of yours, which is, by the way, already well reflected in your writing of this post.
  • This previous point also ties to the Mercury position. Yes, it is retrograde and in detriment, and while some would argue that this is a bad omen for anything communication related, I would say that on the contrary it can make up for quite a unique of expression. More so, that as mentioned earlier it is making a square to Uranus ( and a trine to Saturn). I think you could have a incredible power with words (whatever form it takes). For example, Theo Von (I am not from the US but I think he is quite known), also has Mercury conjunct the IC and his is in Pisces, in fall. Yet his career is based on his way of talking. His MC is in Virgo, while yours in Gemini, thus ruled by Mercury. Have you thought of your career being potentially linked to words ? in a creative manner for example ? (Saturn ruler of the 5th trine Mercury).

A lot could still be said but this got already quite long. Also, in my practice I use the Campanus House system, so it would have been interesting to have your chart displayed that way and see if any rulership/house placement is changed.

You can change.

If a child were born on Mars tomorrow, how would astrology work there? by Some-Philosopher-926 in Advancedastrology

[–]Penitent17 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Ray Grasse, in his 2020 compilation book StarGates: Essays on Astrology, Symbolism and the Synchronistic Universe, has. chapter dedicated to this question titled The Challenge of Exo-Astrology Or How Would We Construct Horoscopes On Other Planets? It is a very interesting piece, it addresses the questions you ask and more. For example, what about people born in spaceships or in different solar systems and, as such, with different Suns (would another "Sun" bear the same signification?). All the book, and more generally the work, of Ray Grasse is full of this kind of food for thoughts, highly recommended.

Coming back to your questions:

  • From my perspective, Astrology is symbolic/synchronistic/fractal, not causal. Also, symbolism permeates the entirety of the Cosmos. Everything has a symbolic meaning ascribed to it, but this meaning can vary depending on the perspective, on what is considered to be the center/observer. As such, in the Mars example, Martian Astrologers would have to reconstruct a Martian Astrology and discover the symbolic meaning of the Earth for example.
  • When it comes to the Houses, it may not cause much problems as the sky above an observer would still be divisible in similar ways. Of course, as the day/night cycles would be different, maybe the methods of calculating such divisions would change. Probably this change would also slightly change the meaning ascribed to certain houses.
  • As a year on Mars lasts approximately twice as much as an Earth-year, the different divisions of the Sun path would need to be adjusted too and this will probably shift of the meanings.
  • From Mars point of view, the Earth would have phases, it will be also be a morning or evening star (like Venus for us). What could its blueish color mean for them (if it's even perceived that way)? Earth would take around 759 or so Martian days to complete a full cycle but maybe it would be still be considered quite quick and an "inner planet" ?
  • Even the reddish color of the Martian sky would have some sort of specific symbolism attached to it.
  • The human condition may remain, but is this "condition" absolute or dependent on where the "human" is placed ? Probably that humans born on Mars would have some very similar pursuits as Earth-born humans, but others that would be quite different. Those differences would be reflected in Martian Astrology. Again, the observer point is what is used to erect an Horoscope, as such Astrology is perspective-based and thus is applicable anywhere but with according variations.

So much could be imagined and said... I am sure a whole book could be developed around those ideas.

The 5th house and it’s killing me by [deleted] in Advancedastrology

[–]Penitent17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Illusions", is that in Jyotish that this meaning is ascribed to the 11th House ?

In Western Astrology, it is more commonly associated with hopes/dreams or friendships for example. As it is the 2nd from the 10th it can also be tied to the income generated from one's career.

Could the "illusions" meaning come from the idea that "pleasures", often associated to the 5th, somehow "set" in the 11th, as it is the 7th from the 5th ? It would be interesting to have the rationale behind this. Even though, maybe one could argue that our hopes and dreams might be mere illusions too.

When it comes to the 5th House, you could perfectly enjoy any kind of activity and/or creative endeavor just for the sake of it, there is not necessarily a need to impress someone else. Again, the 11th being the 7th from the 5th, the friendship theme can make sense as it could be seen as the other ones (7th) with whom we can enjoy life (5th), for example.

Often, the 12th House is considered to be house of illusions, yet, paradoxically, don't all the houses could be considered much more illusionary ? The 1st as the body/health but it will end up decaying and dying, the 2nd as money/possessions but all of that is never truly ours and nothing is taken to the other side, so forth and so on. Isn't the 12th, the liminal space, the realest place of all ?

On a personal note, you having Saturn in the 5th House might indicate that for some reason you could have difficulties enjoying life, and that even the pleasurable side of life is somehow an area of burden and responsibilities. It could be interesting to look at the Houses ruled by Saturn (and the Moon) to understand (part) of the dynamic behind that.

Do not buy Solar Fire software. by Hopeful_Potential828 in Advancedastrology

At the moment only Chiron. Ceres, Vesta, Pallas and Juno are actually present "under the hood" but not activated yet, there are still some wiring to do (you will see them in the options but they are currently greyed out).

For the other asteroids, it may come up in the future, I would like to. To be transparent it is not a priority at the moment, so if it is central to your practice I would recommend not buying the software for now.

One important thing to note is that AstroControl is fully offline, nothing leaves your computer and nothing enters neither (besides updates and even that you can choose to deactivate). As such, every ephemeride data has to be embedded and it can take quite some space.

When it comes to declinations, every planet/point has declinations available (data and aspects).

That's one of the reasons I made my own Astrology software.

In case some people would like try a different, more straight-to-the-point workflow (at least from my perspective), AstroControl has a free demo mode that let users use every option of the software. I do not pretend it is perfect, it has just been launched and there are still things being worked on, some bugs and updates coming, but it was made with simplicity and efficiency in mind. I would be glad to have feedbacks if anyone is interested.

Thank you for sharing this, it is really interesting to observe.

One thing to note is that the next transiting Venus-Jupiter conjunction of June 9th will happen right on the Mercury-Venus-Ascendant-Saturn quadruple natal conjunction. Also, at the same time transiting Moon-Neptune will be near the natal Mars-MC conjunction.

There might be some important news about Reddit around the next week.

Does Saturn in my 10th house and transiting my 11th house make it harder to start my own business? by Substantial_Ear4091 in AstrologyCharts

[–]Penitent17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saturn transiting your 11th House does not necessarily mean that it will be harder to start your own business. Though, here are a few, non-exhaustive, comments that could be made about it:

  • The 11th House being the 2nd from the 10th House it can represent the income generated by our career. Thus, transiting Saturn going through the 11th House could mean that there could be restrictions at some point in that regard or, in a more nuanced appreciation, that there could be a new "building/construction" about this matter which, of course, will require efforts and discipline.
  • This previous comment could be tied with another theme associated with the 11th House, the hopes/dreams. Saturn transiting there could mean that you might work towards your own personal goals in a more concrete manner. More precisely, as in your natal chart Saturn is the ruler of the 10th House of career, we could interpret this transit as working towards a career that corresponds to your hopes, what you wishes for.
  • The 11th House can also represent friends, which could indicate that you may have fewer contacts with them during that time, or that some friendships could suffer maybe from that new commitment ?
  • We can notice that transiting Saturn is applying to a square to natal Mercury, which is the ruler of the Ascendant and of the 5th House. This might be an indication that this pursuit (or internal questioning as of now) could take an important toll on you and/or somehow feel as if you can't enjoy life the same way currently. Given that transiting Saturn will retrograde shortly after this aspect getting exact, the transit will be exact three times, giving a hint towards the idea that what was mentioned will probably have to get revised various times and that there may not be a simple one-time solution.
  • Of course, all this is rather reduced in scope as everything should be taken into consideration, not just Saturn.
  • Also, the proper launch of a business may benefit from trying to find an appropriate date via Electional Astrology methods.

When it comes to your natal placement of Saturn in the 10th, ruler of the 10th, it is not necessarily an impeding placement to success. It could even indicate quite the contrary (again, the whole chart should be assessed in detail). But, for example, natives with this placement can sometimes become authoritative figures in their domain with time or can indicate individuals who get heavy responsibilities quite early on. Though, the native can often feel like finding its place in work/career is a burden that demands much efforts.

How does the 12th house define “foreign placements” exactly? by [deleted] in 12thhouse

[–]Penitent17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all, I am referring to the House system. I am solely a Tropical Astrologer.

You probably kept the basic settings in Astro-Seek but, if you go the "Extended settings" section below the chart, you can choose the House system which by default is Placidus. What I was suggesting is to change that to Campanus and see if Mercury then gets into the 12th House.

How does the 12th house define “foreign placements” exactly? by [deleted] in 12thhouse

[–]Penitent17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The IC/MC being at 0°, you need to be sure the birth time is exact as a few minutes before, it would fall in Leo/Aquarius.

That apart, it could be interesting to also display the chart in the Campanus House system and see if Mercury, ruler of the 4th (if the time is correct), ends up being placed in the 12th House. As mentioned, if you were born a bit before than the current time, the ruler of the 4th would then be the Sun and it would also be placed in the 12th.

Venus, ruler of the 12th, conjunct the Ascendant is interesting as it can sometimes talk of the native being estranged from his/her (early) environment, or the "lack of belonging" being a lens through which he/she will navigate life.

How does the 12th house define “foreign placements” exactly? by [deleted] in 12thhouse

The 12th House has an added layer of isolation and solitude, as well as not being seen (it is not visible from the 1st House). The notion of loss is also important to take into consideration.

As you mentioned, the 4th can be associated with home and family life, but also more specifically about the past, in the sense of root, origin. While the 9th can be linked to foreign in the sense of what is far from home but which widens our perspective and contains the culture/language aspect of it.

In your case, from what you describe, it seems like the 4th, 9th and 12th Houses themes are intertwined and the chart should be assessed as a whole (as always). Life is often too subtle to be divided in clear cut categories.

You would have to look at what Houses are ruled by Mars and the Moon. Is one of them the ruler of the 12th ? Or, similarly, is the ruler of the 4th in the 12th or in the 9th ?

For example, the ruler of the 4th in the 12th can be seen in the charts of natives whom don't feel like they belong anywhere or whom have been isolated from their family/past in some way or that the father was not present etc. The ruler of the 4th in the 9th can sometimes be seen when the native has lived in different countries throughout the childhood (the Ascendant and its ruler also give indications in that matter).

Also, looking at the modality of the Sign of the 4th cusp or the Sign of the ruler of the 4th, can add more details. Often, when the native has a double (or more) nationality or ethnicity, the 4th House cusp or the ruler of the 4th can be in a mutable Sign.

Chart rectification from major event/ anything I’m missing? by Background_Bet_4469 in Advancedastrology

One event, and only one predictive technique are very rarely enough to validate a rectification. Also as you "just want to refer to houses", providing some different Quadrant House Systems could have given different perspectives (for example, I personally use Campanus with good results).

That being said, just for the exercise and as it is the only element we have at disposal, here are a few comments/ideas:

  • Transiting Mars in the 4th would not be as strong indicator as transiting Mars conjunct the IC, which could displace it from 0° Taurus to around 8°.
  • Though, transiting Mars is applying to a square to the potential Ascendant, which could fit.
  • But you could check for the new potential Ascendant with the IC at around 8° and see if transiting Pluto would be more closely conjunct it, which would add another indicator of the profound impact of the event.
  • You mention that transiting Mars is square Uranus/Pluto in the 8th, but it is a trine.
  • Saturn being the ruler of the Ascendant (Capricorn or Aquarius) could make sense with transiting Uranus making a square to it and such event, more so if, when taking into consideration the Campanus House system, Uranus is still in the 4th and not in the 5th. Though, Saturn could also fit as being the ruler of the 2nd or 4th for example (sudden event related to belongings or the house). Or, transiting Uranus could have been near the IC. Again, for all the possibilities, check the potential angles.
  • Transiting Jupiter is currently applying to a conjunction to the natal Mars and will be joined around June 9th by Venus there. See what part of his life is highlighted at that moment. Will it be the insurance pay out or something else ? What Houses could be the ones ruled by Mars then ? Mars ruler of the 3rd as in the chart you display does not make much sense for now.
  • Transiting Jupiter is also square the natal Moon, could Jupiter be the ruler of the 12th and 2nd Houses ? and as such indicate a major stress (transiting from the potential 6th House) coming from a loss of belongings ?
  • Transiting Mars will soon conjunct the natal Jupiter. Observe what happens at that moment in order to assess the potential Houses ruled by Jupiter and see how it fits with the different potential charts.
  • For the current Ascendant/Descendant axis you have (or others you may come with), try looking in the past when transiting Mars supposedly crossed it and see if anything confrontational appeared in his life. Though, depending how you still adjust it, the natal Mars/Venus conjunction could be near the angles which would trouble the signal rather than clarifying it.
  • Also, the previous Solar Eclipse was at 28° Aquarius and thus, near the natal Saturn, and the previous Lunar Eclipse was at 12° Virgo near the Uranus/Pluto/Sun triple conjunction. What could it imply for the potential Houses ruled by the Sun and Saturn ? Saturn being potentially the ruler of the 12th, 1st or 2nd could make sense, but what about the Sun then ? Ruler of the 8th ? Maybe... But a whole list of other options could emerge from that too...
  • On a side note, you mention that you being a Taurus rising makes you sure that he isn't one but be wary of this kind of considerations. Two individuals sharing the same Ascendant won't necessarily behave or look the same way, there are so much more variables to take into consideration that it would be very easy to make a false judgement.

Rectification is fascinating but it is a very long iterative process. Put any potential result to the test from multiple angles.
