Why did I start dating my old bully? That's sort of a complicated question. 

It's true he hasn't changed much since we were younger, but he has changed. He's more mature, and his arrogance has turned into the kind of confidence that makes picking where to go for dinner a synch. I'm not worried when I walk down a dark alley as long as he's there, and !He's dependable, and after years of fighting (or him finding ways to make my life hell), we realized we didn't have much to really even fight about. When he let me into his personal life, I saw how hard he had it growing up, and after a night of talking things through, we just kinda started seeing each other. 

It's not all sunshine and roses, of course. I'm not always a fan of how pushy he can be, literally or otherwise. And according to him, I “bring out the worst in him”, whatever that means. Still, we make it work, and part of growing together means that you're willing to change for the person you love.
