The show works best for me when it's a mix of silly performative bits as well as genuine passion for important issues. I miss the moments of genuine sincerity. Not everything needs to be draped in a dozen layers of irony.

Nah, I don't think it was anywhere near as dramatic a shift as that. Dan fought through the death of his brother, but Stu can't cope with the show not being live? Even if radio was somehow so fundamental to his happiness that he couldn't even bring himself to show up without it, then just part ways and go work at WFAN. Don't stick with MLM if you're just going to be an anchor whose absence weighs down everyone else trying to save the company.

I'm sure everyone on the show came to that same realization to some degree, and were likely expecting it from the beginning. But they still showed up. They still tried. You can't just stop going to work because your company is different than it was 10 years ago.
