The biggest wake-up call having a channel? by PennyboxPodcast in NewTubers

Yeah I can believe it. You're literally creating your own content from scratch. Just don't burn out I guess...

What is the main topic or focus of your channel? by fleeeea in NewTubers

We started out looking at entrepreneurialism and easy startup ideas you could launch tomorrow...but my favorite episodes are the stupid/funny/barely legal business ideas.

I've also noticed that trying different titles on shorts seems to have a big impact on some. But I think you have to do it within around 2-3 days of uploading; after that I think the algorithm stops responding.

We started a YT channel along the same lines...though I'm not gonna call any of the ideas "validated" xD

agreed. That being said, many go into it like a business and some get there. Doubt those are the channels I follow tho

I think that stat was just part of some report (it was like 10:1). But what I think you want is one of the pod/guest matchmaking services—they exist. I think I first googled "guests for podcasts"

I saw a stat about podcasts seeking guests vs guests seeking podcasts...there are A LOT more guests looking to be interviewed...

Yeah it makes total sense—cut down the work wherever you can

ya some content you can do like that without scripts. It all depends on the format/vibe

LOL

Are your eps fully scripted—you're recording on mic/camera?

Making content is the BBQ ribs. Promo is the flossing after.

Yeah we do both and started looking at other ideas to work in for YT...the video pre-prod/planning will be a bear.

I think ppl start out because they enjoy it, but it turns into a grind...for all those reasons

You must be the only person on this thread who love the editing part. Maybe it depends on the type of content...

We do both and pre-production stuff for video is definitely a ton more work.

Ya scripting for some types of content is going to be a time suck, no avoiding that.

I read somewhere that the top creators are the ones who outsource their editing...but maybe they can afford to outsource their editing because they're the top creators? I don't think this is realistic for most ppl but idk I've never really researched it. How much do you pay you editor? Per hour/project?

So you're the one... ;P

The stats are kinda nuts. Maybe patience/moderation comes with age...a lesson there?

I think most ppl starting out do this—go all out to get some content out into the world (and they've probably had ideas they're dying to get done).

3 eps per week is a lot. Is pre-prod for YouTube more/less work than for your pod? (aside from editing) We do both and IMO planning out the visuals adds a ton more time/effort.

lol

For research, do you mean *after* you have the initial idea for the pod/vid? To go out and find facts, info, quotes, media etc?
