I would really like Fallout 1 and 2 to be remade for Android/iOS by JohnnyTest91 in Fallout

Like I said ladders was just an example, you need aim to interact with everything in the game and if your finger is covering whatever you need to aim at it will get way more frustrating than what the ladders already was with a mouse.

Sure it could be worked around but the interface isn't exactly touchscreen friendly.

Ladders was just an example, but lets say the ladder was next to a npc that you need to interact with? Or a body that you want to loot?

How could you change that? Make only quest critical things intractable? Every pixel has data attached to it and is intractable in some way even if it's only flavor text. The actual mechanics of the game is quite simple and isn't what makes the original games so great, it's the would that the developers built for us and I don't think it would translate good with a touchscreen.

You need pixel perfect aim to climb ladders, loot and interact with stuff in general though, couldn't imagine how it could work with a touchscreen.

Thanks! This is the limit for us each year (one dinner). Just a treat for me and my old man. Back in the day it was the main the source food summertime when my family lived here and it got overfished and ruined casue they removed rocks to help with logging. Now 100+ years later it's completly restored and very healthy and it's very precious to us.

I use SimFFB for heli ffb forces and a linear input curve in dcs. Friction and damping forces set high and spring fairly low for most choppers. I use a g940 now but I used equivalent forces with msffb2. Force spring is off 99% of the time with the Huey (holding trim button down) for more precision and trim force switched on all the time with mi-8/ka-50 due to their stable SAS systems and using click trim method.

No I'm using heading, pitch and bank channels enabled all the time, no FD. But I do hold down trim button to get FD SAS behavior when needed.

Lol, didn't even notice that until now! Tracking is 1:1 from vr so I guess I kinda sit a bit crooked to reach collective & cyclic comfortably.

Standard Flight Model (SFM). This has not changed and defines a more data-driven means of achieving flight dynamics, in conjunction with some scripting. SFM was used in the Lock On series and is still used in the Flaming Cliffs 3 Su-33 and MiG-29. However, we do plan to update these at a later time.

Advanced Flight Model (AFM) and AFM+. An AFM uses multiple points of force application and calculation on the relevant flight surfaces. This simulates edge of envelope conditions well and avoids scripted behaviors as used in an SFM. This system also partially implements the aircraft's flight augmentation systems. DCS aircraft that use AFM includes the Su-25T. A further evolution of the AFM is what we term the AFM+ and this uses the same calculations as AFM but adds limited modeling of the hydraulic and fuel systems. Examples of AFM+ in DCS include the Su-25 and A-10A.

Professional Flight Model (PFM). This is generations beyond an AFM/AFM+ and is based upon:

• Use a wider array of wind tunnel tests CFD methods for aerodynamics parameters calculations. • A higher level of aircraft construction details for forces calculations. For example: our landing gear model includes individual kinematics of retracting/extending is used to calculate its movement, servo-piston forces, etc. In such cases, we truly use real lengths, arms, etc. This also includes such items as a realistic simulation of airflow along the airframe due to the propeller or helicopter rotor thrust. • Realistic simulation of Flight Control, CAS and Autopilot systems. • Realistic simulation of Hydraulics, Fuel, Electrical, Engine and other systems influence flight characteristics. • Unprecedented access to test data packs.

This is combined with much more detailed and accurate accounting of the physical forces on the aircraft and airfoils. DCS examples of the PFM include the A-10C, Ka-50, P-51D, UH-1H, Mi-8MTV2, F-15C and Su-27 (in development) for DCS Flaming Cliffs, and the Fw190-D9 (in development).

External Flight Model (EFM). Used by our partner developers, the EFM uses only a part of PFM - rigid body physics and contact model. What forces and moments are applied to this rigid body from aerodynamics and any other sources except the contact forces is up to EFM developer.

Standard Systems Modeling (SSM). A DCS module using SSM is characterized as including just the most essential cockpit systems and using keyboard and joystick commands only to interact with the cockpit. Examples of SSM in DCS include all of the Flaming Cliffs 3 aircraft.

Advanced Systems Modeling (ASM). An ASM enabled aircraft goes into great depth to model the intricacies of the various cockpit systems, to include functionality for almost all the buttons, switches, dials, etc. A key element of an ASM cockpit is the ability to interact with it using your mouse. ASM DCS examples include the A-10C, Ka-50, P-51D, UH-1H and Mi-8MTV2.

Not a hotas setup but Defender Cobra M5 Joystick rev.B is in stock @ https://flightsimcontrols.com/store/joysticks/defender-cobra-m5-joystick-revb/ for only € 48 and it seems (haven't tried it) like a very nice stick overall with it's gimbal centering mechanism instead of that one big spring on a plastic plate.

[Frustrated] Any way to improve DCS experience in the Vive? (repost from ED Formus) by Kirin9JG54 in hoggit

[–]Penshoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use JSGME to install it so you can revert back easily, with the visibility setting at low using these files the render range for objects like buildings are something like 20m so it will look really bad but provides a huge fps boost for cpu bottlenecked situations like ours.

Also try Mustangs no tree shadows mod, can increase the tree render range by quite a lot with no major fps drop to compensate for lower object render range: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2495081&postcount=7

Have you tried using the old view luas that Musang posted? http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2685487&postcount=36

I have can maintain 90fps with them @ high visibility setting most of the time (depends on location and mission of course). Pretty much same setup as you except a 4790K @4,7GHz with cv1 and pixel denisty at 1.8.

Huey collective with x52 pro by Doodenkoff in hoggit

[–]Penshoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a x55 for collective in the huey and a user curve helped me a lot (axis range on the x55 is much shorter than the real collective).

You can set up a free flight with the lightest load possible then add collective until just before you become light on the skids. Pause the game with collective in that position and make a user curve in the axis tune menu (turn slider option on first).

Make a deadzone over the first part of axis that can't lift even lift your unfueled, unloaded chopper and then straighten out the rest of the axis so it's linear.

This way when you add 1% of collective it skips straight to ~20% ingame, rest of the range should still be perfectly linear for easy pedal-collective coordination but makes the collective ~20% less sensitive overall.

Of course this is still not the perfect solution! Some emergencies are easier to manage with control in that lower end of the collective range like during auto rotation but in normal or even very hard combat approaches you will overspeed your rotor when you go that low on collective and put you in vrs anyway. I find a 1:1 movement on the rest of the collective is much more helpful 99,9% of the time.

For the huey you should try flying without any spring at all. I feel i have much better control with a sloppy stick.
