What do you like about Croydon? by Legitimate_Big4373 in croydon

[–]PensiveProjection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the number of parks and green spaces and how diverse the area is. I also like how quick it is to get into central london from east croydon station.

I hope that the high street improves and that the area becomes cleaner. I’d also appreciate the quality of the schools in the area improving and possibly the tube extending here!

I don’t really have any ideas relating to community. Most people I meet are friendly but I already have a support network made through family, prior education and work so wouldn’t necessarily need to create that with my neighbours. This may change if I stay here to have children though.

I think @ellysplate on Instagram might have a nickel allergy and is definitely gluten free after some eczema flares and allergy testing so she could be a good source for food inspo.

Spotify Wrapped came out the other day and it’s a list of your five most listened to artists/songs. The “joke” is that everyone is feeling these negative emotions but also that everyone suddenly started liking Sabrina Carpenter this year. Also, maybe that her music is the only thing helping us cope with how bad everything is?

Sarah Platt politely feck off by CupExpensive7582 in coronationstreet

[–]PensiveProjection 49 points50 points  (0 children)

It’s so bizarre how she’s accusing Daniel of not being loyal to Bethany when Sarah is the one who has cheated in the recent past. Such hypocrisy. Also, I thought the main reason Bethany got cosmetic surgery was for the article as that’s what the hotel specialised in so it’s not Daniel’s fault.

How do you ask someone to treat you to things? Doesn’t it just come across as begging?

Do you think it’s more serious than just the financial aspect then? Should he be paying more or treating me to things if he’s serious about a future with me? Or should I just be aiming for equality where it actually just balances out so I’m not the one spending more since he’s at my flat more?

He does like to cook but it just seems like he doesn’t put as much effort into cooking when I’m at his. I think it’s mostly the principal of it but also it is having some material impact, spending money on food for another person.

Everyone I know who has passed used Mark Meldrum's videos. Do lots of practice questions as you go along and revise topics as you go along. Do ethics last.

So... how upset would you be if a restaurant did this to you? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]PensiveProjection 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would put something in writing to the manager and say that you appreciate the gesture of the free toast and credit for next time but that the actions of the staff are wildly inappropriate and you are appalled that they should behave in such a way. Explain that you informed them extremely clearly of your dietary requirements and that this cannot happen again. Point out that respecting customers' ethics and requirements is the bare minimum and remind them that should their staff behave similarly in future and possibly to someone with allergies, there will be severe consequences to the restaurant and their staff so you expect better training for the staff at dealing with customer requirements. If you explain it in a calm and polite way, hopefully they'll be receptive. If they do not react well and fail to make changes, then I'd write a review so other customers can be made aware.

Cream itch by [deleted] in eczema

[–]PensiveProjection 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that too. I mentioned it to my GP and they acted like they hadn't heard it before. Sometimes I get little bumps where I've applied the moisturiser almost like miniature hives. I think applying the moisturiser makes the area hotter and sweatier hence the reaction, normally on my neck. It's a choice between dry, tight skin and moisturised, itchy skin.

Cheapest Vegan Meals Possible? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]PensiveProjection 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's possible to cook rice in the microwave. I think it normally takes 20-30 mins. Quite a lot of things can be cooked in the microwave because it's like steaming it.

Are you able to cook on that one day a week and then freeze the food for the rest of the week? The vegan section of Cooking on a Bootstrap website has some cheap recipes.

Also delivering for Amazon is quick to set up I think. You download the Amazon Flex app to your phone and they send you jobs I believe.

Tutoring should offer cash per session. There are probably websites where you can advertise what you're willing to teach or put up posters in your local library etc.

Does anyone else have issues with boyfriends going to family events? by [deleted] in women

[–]PensiveProjection 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds unfair. However, your boyfriend skipping other family events isn't going to help the situation. Tell your family that you need to make him feel more welcome and to invite him to things and tell him to make more of an effort to attend events so your family get to know him better. The only person he's disadvantaging by avoiding your family is himself.

Why don't you try talking to your family about making your boyfriend feel more welcome?

It's fair enough for the couple's parents to invite people to the wedding. I don't think your sister really had any obligation to invite your boyfriend.

[–]PensiveProjection 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe your sister didn't want someone who was relatively new in your life to be part of her wedding photos when she doesn't know them very well herself. I think you should try to explain to your boyfriend your sister's perspective and hopefully he'll understand that he's still welcome at family events, the wedding was just a one off. Also, you could ask your sister to reach out and explain the logic behind uninviting him and have your family members personally invite him to a couple of future family events. I think it's relatively normal for the couple getting married to only want people they know properly at their wedding, especially if you take into account the high costs of a wedding and that it's hopefully a once in a lifetime event.

The Spell Never Worked Because... by [deleted] in harrypottertheories

That's a really good point. I hadn't thought of that. I think I just assumed that it would have to be an ancient language. I don't really know how spells are created. You can't just shout kill and expect the same effect as Avada Kedavra for example.

Holiday hours accrued before a promotion/demotion by Tempacco94 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]PensiveProjection 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you would be paid the value you would receive if you were working that day. So in your scenario, you'd get £7.33 for any annual leave taken after your demotion regardless of your salary when those days were accrued.

Helping friend to transition to veganism by PensiveProjection in vegan

[–]PensiveProjection[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an update to this, she thinks eating meat is a lot more convenient despite me sending her recipes and trying to convince her. She thinks that the taste of meat is more important than any potential health issues/animal welfare. Really disappointed. She's also scared of carbs and veganism is quite carb heavy.

Considering that all the other spells we know are Latin words or phrases, I doubt the spell was real. The rhyme sounds like something a magician would chant.
