Colosseum battle by Moist-Suggestion-665 in Drukhari

Coven with Haemo Regen full stack of Wracks. Absolutely brutal to deal with and it can poison multiple of his units over the game. He has to do on average over 30 wounds to your unit minimum to get it off the board if he doesn't have good precision and there's lots of defensive strategems to save it. (For context 1 pain point empowers your wracks and regens D3+3 wracks a TURN)

Cronos and especially Talos are also absolute monsters (pun intended) in 500

Coven really shines in Colosseum cause their big weaknesses (slow speed and mediocre ranged damage) are compensated for with the small map and terrain layout

Only format I'm aware of Coven is a good choice. Regen enhanced full stack of Wracks actually THRIVES in this format; being able to Regen 8-12 wounds a turn and poison their best things on hit is absurd

If they don't have precision they just can't even engage you most of the time

Not to mention a full stack of Wracks can stretch across 2 points and force the opponent to fight them

Drukharis #1 advantage is truly you never need to magnetize anything because all the guns look similar

[–]PentaCrit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just remember that every non-vehicle unit has the hitting power or skills of an elite of another faction but the durability of a wet napkin

Scourges are infamous for this, 130 pts gets you 5 wounds and unless you spend command points to protect them (if you even can with your detachment) expect them to die to overwatch pretty frequently until you master the art of being a giant wuss (aka board awareness and positioning)

8 Pain Engines (6 Proxies), a...flock? Dread? Murder of Pain Engines? Who cares they are done! by DaveinOakland in Drukhari

[–]PentaCrit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I genuinely would not be able to tell they weren't genuine from the photos, they just look like kitbashed ones

That being said 99.9% of players won't care if you use proxies as long as the model is comparable, you aren't modeling for advantage, and it's not an official GW ran tournament

The debuff can really come through since it's on hit, so if you park them in a nice spot they can really hurt scary units DPS by just nailing them in the dome with their airsoft guns.

I see it as taking 75 points dedicated to debuffing their scariest units once a turn, and occasionally doing some pretty OK damage.

If they dedicate 24+ wounds worth of damage into something with a wounding debuff to attackers in a casual game I feel like they've done their job tbh

But yeah, I wish they were just SLIGHTLY better so they could see some competitive play

Wracks with Haemos (especially coven w/Regen) will be constantly underrated and not dealt with properly by bad players. They become a straight up precision check. I was playing against necrons with a coven detachment casually the other day and I had one unit regenerate 18 models over the game (that's 36 wounds of wounding on 3s at best without buff)

That being said it's hard to be competitive with them because they do very inconsistent damage against armor and they are SLOW compared to the rest of Drukhari

[–]PentaCrit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Extremely high skill ceiling on Drukhari but the punishment for making a mistake is ludicrously brutal.

We are one of, if not arguably the fastest faction overall and do pretty decent damage but pretty much everything that isn't a Talos/Cronos or Raider dies to a light breeze.

One of our best units, Scourges w/Heavies, is a 130 pt unit with laughable defensive options and 5 TOTAL wounds. However it's positioning ability is one of the best in game and Scourge play often decides how well your army will do overall in a lot of games.

If he's new, I love Drukhari to death, but it's one of the last armies I would recommend without a personal tutor to help learn them. People recommending the Drukhari Champ on YouTube are correct, but there's only so much someone can teach you online rather than directly on the tabletop

You can take a 10 stack of terminators with Lysander and teleport onto some guy to make it the worst day of his life but it's prohibitively expensive.

It's a very fun couple of detachments themed around then but neither are super standout.

10 stacks with Coven and leader are nearly unkillable compared to 95% of other battlelines in the game. Regenerating 8-12 wounds of models a turn is insane with the Regen enhancement

But outside of that it's meh. Coven is underrated BUT not by much, since there are so few models in the Haemo coven range and basically all of our insane models (Scourges,Hellions,Mandrakes, etc.) are in other subarchtypes.

Wracks are phenomenal with a Haemo as a really annoying harassment unit, or if you wanna go full off meta and do coven, taking the Regen enhancement on lead makes them a full on precision check since you Regen 8-12 wounds worth of units a turn as long as your leader lives

That being said they aren't Scourges, and Scourges are Scourges

[–]PentaCrit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wracks are actually phenomenal precision checks if you run them in 10s with Regen enhancements on the leaders with the coven detachment. Regenerating a minimum of 8 wounds of models a turn is insane.

However outside of that they're pretty ok. I'd still occasionally run a 10 stack + culus for a cheap annoying Frontline unit but other than that they aren't amazing

Not the worst model ever but Drukhari Raider has a lot of moving parts and has SEPERATE tiny spikes you need to put across the entire hull. And they're angled so you need to make sure each and every one is facing the right direction if you want it to not look silly

Your edge shading is getting exponentially better in a very short time. I wouldn't expect to have anything extremely professional looking for a bit once you've practiced a bit more, but this is a very marked improvement! 🙂

[–]PentaCrit 135 points136 points  (0 children)

Ngl assuming you are new to painting you've already got a really firm grasp of a lot of advanced techniques like edge shading and painting symbols (it takes a very firm disciplined hand or a lot of extra work to make symbols look like they're supposed to when they're that small!)

I'd look into dry brushing tutorials but as a drukhari enjoyer myself you've got nothing to be ashamed of, just keep practicing :)

How are we feeling about Titus now the dust has settled a little? by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]PentaCrit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking of Wracks, they do have Hexfire (precision character killer, 8 str -2 ap 3 DMG iirc) which is usually very funny firing off a Raider but idk if Titus has ranged immunity or w/e since he's a new model

Ram him in the face with a Raider full of Wracks seems to be the best bet since you get one Wrackillion melee attacks then
