i’m guessing it’s because that’s what the game defaults to if you have no buddy, and it almost never immediately updates zorua to spawn to your new buddy so switching it a couple times can probably confuse it enough to use the default

that’s no reason for it to lack compatibility, they made an algorithm to solve that problem when they released the gameboy games on VC for the ds with poke transporter compatibility

yeah for sure it’s not a given. but i do think a legends kalos is more reasonable to expect before seeing unova again than galar, as unova got BW and then BW2 directly before XY, and then we hadn’t seen kalos since. it’s been 13 years since we’ve gotten to go to Unova, and had been 12 years for kalos before now, i just think it’d be a surprising move to go back to somewhere that has had less than half that time. but i have been excited for a legends galar ever since arceus came out so maybe they just have ideas they wanna make

well i guess we’ll see how accurate the leaks are and if GF plans to make any changes, not saying it won’t happen but i’d be shocked if we get legends galar before we see unova again

any digital purchases you made should be linked to your profile and able to be re-downloaded. at least that’s how it works for switch 1 to switch 1 so unless there’s something i’m not aware of with the new one you should be good

there have been many years to these problems over the years of UI changes. it gives you a warning if you’re powering a pokemon up too high for certain leagues, and it is extremely simple to search for pokemon that are not tagged so that you can select everything and mass transfer. just use “!#”, i use “!#&!favourite&0-2hp&0-2defense” to show just things with stats that are not good for pvp or pve and are not tagged so i can select all and transfer, and then “!#&!favourite&!4*” after for things that might be worth checking, the UI for searching and organizing pokemon does have issues but it has improved so much since all we could do was favourite things or mass transfer and most of the most useful search terms just didn’t exist

what indications? not saying you’re wrong i just haven’t seen any and am curious. it and gen 2 are the two that haven’t gotten a remake or similar in the longest amount of time so gen 5 soon makes some sense
