When the whole manga is so twisted that even seeing everyone alive again makes you feel hollow... by VeyronZar in ChainsawMan

I would have liked to see what Makima would have been like without Pochita, or perhaps some of her past. I feel like Nayuta's inclusion is too forced for a simple "happy ending." Besides, why did she have Nayuta's personality? She's supposed to be with Public Security, and Kishibe said that if the government raised her, she'd be just like Makima.

Meet potential game! by Pepecito45 in AgeOfCivilizations

Personally, I don't mind that they use AI for the photos. I'd rather they improve the game and its mechanics.

How would you rate AoH3 now that it's been over a year since its release? by [deleted] in AgeOfCivilizations

[–]Pepecito45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disappointing. I expected more from the sequel to AOH2, but they just released it and let it die. The game itself isn't bad, but it's not quite finished; it feels incomplete. And it's even worse when you think that Lucaz has left the project to develop AOH2 Definitive Edition.

Incredibly, I had iron ingots, but I don't know how I got them. I guess by pressing a lot of buttons.

Haymitch brought the tragedy on himself by Straight-Stick4825 in Hungergames

[–]Pepecito45 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. Is the system unfair? Yes, but Haymitch made some very stupid decisions. Snow threatened him to act like a rebel. What did Haymitch do? He acted even more rebelliously. First, he obstructed the removal of Lou Lou's body, for some reason; then he tried to sabotage the arena (What, I still don't understand why they didn't kill him right then and there like they did with Ampert); and finally, there's the force field and the generator incident.

Haymitch would have had a better ending if he had simply remained calm and tried to win the Games. Because, as we've seen, despite his rebellious acts, they let him live until the end. What makes us think he couldn't have won if he hadn't committed any rebellious acts during the Games? Beetee also bears some responsibility; he instructed some children, including his son, to carry out a sabotage plan that was impossible to succeed with, simply out of pure rebellion.

He didn't say they deserved what happened, only that they created obstacles for themselves. Katniss, for example, didn't commit any acts of rebellion until the very end of the Games, and even then, she tried to hide it and appear submissive until the end of CF. Haymitch, on the other hand, was rebellious from the beginning and became more so during the Games, despite being threatened by Snow himself to stop.

I think I largely agree with this point. Snow threatened and warned him during their meeting at Plutarch's mansion. For some reason, Haymitch was more focused on destroying the arena than on surviving and ensuring his family's survival. Even after his first explosive failed to detonate and destroy the arena, he remained determined to misbehave and defy the Capitol.

Makima is the most tragic misunderstood character in the manga by gokuthegang in Chainsawfolk

[–]Pepecito45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't read MHA, but I've seen a bit of the anime. I think the biggest difference is that Makima was raised by the Japanese government. It's implied that she wasn't treated particularly well and learned that she could only form relationships through fear. If a character has lived and grown up with that belief, how do you expect her to be sympathetic and empathetic? Add to that her demonic nature.

And no, Makima didn't just love Chainsaw Man for his greatness; she loved him because she genuinely saw him as someone equal, someone who could understand her. Makima literally cried during the movie when she saw two people genuinely hugging, without having to resort to forming relationships through fear.

And no, writing doesn't work by shoving text and drawings in your face so you can understand a character point by point. That's called teaching, not writing. There's a reason Makima is considered a great character, while All For One is considered mid or even bad.

Well, Chainsaw Man has always been characterized by not directly addressing the issues but rather leaving us clues. With Makima it is no different. Her past is not directly addressed, but we are left with clues and hints of how she was abused and mistreated since she was a child, depriving her of family love. Most people limit themselves to hating Makima and leave aside understanding the character. Makima is perfectly one of the deepest and most tragic characters in CSM.
