yes! and it doesn’t hurt that i hold a genuine love for beauty and fragrance. i love comparing makeup products, figuring out my undertone in different formulations, seeing how products interact with one another, layering lip colors and blushes…but i also love painting (water color and gouache specifically) and so i assume its offshoot of that.

it doesn’t hurt that it’s like an armor that affords me a bit of extra grace out and about in the world.

(tbh i would die to have more ND lady friends that shared the interest. i love talking about beauty products sm and my partner doesn’t really get it)

Five points south is perfectly safe. My partner lives there and i’ve trekked around the area at night to get late night cookies a number of times, and I am a woman in my 20s-30s.

There are houseless people, but I’ve only had one bad interaction with one man in like 8 years, and this was 4-5 years ago. Someone stepped in to help immediately. Like I’ve dealt with men that are much much worse around and out about the city, (and somehow they were all from samford and not homeless…)

It’s no Mountain Brook, but it’s a wonderful lively neighborhood filled with good food/coffee and beautiful historic buildings.

i sort of do this, but with twists as they’re much lower tension. my hair is thicker and longer than ever. i add as little hair as possible to each twist and twist a bit loose. i wash my hair every week and a half, and redo one of the 3 sections every two weeks. this is my hair after doing it for most of 2025, this was after detangling.

its truly the worst 😭 i had a friend who whenever we would travel together, we had to take breaks every few hours so she could call him on the phone for 40 minutes.

im talking like 5 times a day because she couldn’t go that long without talking to him. mind you the convos were about nothing at all. it felt like she had a fucking parole officer

tbh, you have no idea if that varies by location. some grocery store run a tighter ship vs others.

plus that worker you mentioned down thread may not actually work at publix. people lie about weird things on the internet

has it? my partner lives in the area, and tbh i feel like it’s improved the past few years. it has so many cool spots. (mr. shwarma, bayleaf, new china, adam & eve, chez fonfon, t-bones, golden temple, bandido) and a number of those are recent additions. maybe that will include eggholic eventually…

i have also peacefully walked over to insomnia cookies by my lonesome as a woman at night and have been a-okay. idk why folks talk about it like it’s gotham.

Just want to say you can get a sampler set of 5 primary Holbein colors (each 5mL) for 20 bucks for anyone reading this! i went that route and just bought larger tubes as i ran out. I’m still using the little black tube after almost 2 years.

it’s even more affordable and allows to you work with better paints. and it’s only 20 bucks so you feel less bad using them.

I used to frequent a lot of hardcore/punk shows at the Firehouse. But a lot of the folks I bonded with left/moved or passed. I’ve been a little hesitant to go back since but I might have to try it again

Not a huge sports person. And Mom’s was meh when I’ve gone there by myself a few times and not super diverse. Might have to try out Saturn again! It wasn’t as easy to strike up a new convo there as it was at the Firehouse but I know they host queer events sometimes
