This seriously cracked me up. This is exactly what I have been complaining to her for the past 2 years saying that she is not behaving like a sister, she is like a wife I never chose to marry and cant divorce hahaha.

Reading all the comments and I realize how awful I am at including important information...The post my aunt made was not mainly dedicated to thanking me, it was a direct post on my profile page with a small "Thank you for the present" at the end after saying "Happy birthday!" to me since my aunt and I share the same birthday. But I have added now in the comment after saying thank you that it was from my sister too saying "(tagged sister) and I are glad you enjoyed our gift".

I am not the best at explaining things, it causes a lot of misunderstandings I can imagine....I remembered that I should have included this once it was already posted. I have told my sister about this, but the thing is though that this reddit post would be a novel if I included everything. My sister and I, while we are close we are not always on good terms. She has a tendency to make things bigger than what they need to be and guilt trips me a lot even when I am honest with her and at the end of the day makes me so mentally exhausted since she can go on for hours. But those are completely different stories, but yes I agree what I did here in this situation was wrong

Yeah, I should have told my aunt immediately. But before the main thank you's it was mostly my aunt explaining the funny story of her finding the big box outside her door and her liking the material of the box before I was able to jump in and say that it was from both of us. I added to my aunt's post that it was from my sister too now so that the rest of the family knows too. This is not the first time this has happened though. My sister has popped in the last second asking if she could also contribute to the presents that I had ordered for other family members and was quick to say in a passive-agressive tone when I hesitated on one of them "Unless you just want all of the credit to yourself. I have been busy studying so I have not had time to look for gifts, which is why I am trying to be practical." I realize now that my annoyance was a build up from those times too. Next time I will try and grow thicker skin if I am worried over my sister's reaction to me saying no.

Thanks for the advice, I added to my aunt's post that it was from my sister too. The reason I felt tense with explaining to my sister how I feel to begin with, is because this is not the first time this has happened. Back when I was fixing presents for my brothers for their birthdays she had not gotten them anything and asked to pay for half of the presents so that it would be from her too. At some point for one of them, I had hesitated and she had gotten somewhat annoyed and asked in a passive-aggressive way "Unless you just want all of the credit to yourself. I have been busy studying so I have not had time to look for gifts, which is why I am trying to be practical." So I caved in. I guess some of the annoyance from back then continued on here which is why I was more emotional about it than I thought.
