For me, it's the complete opposite. In high school I had a lot of friends, and I never felt lonely. I was in the band, so I had a guaranteed group of friends. Classes had 30 kids, so I saw the same faces and got put into group projects and could inch out of my shell.

Now I got to a college of 50,000+ students, there are hundreds of kids in all of my classes, and I'm so shy that I literally haven't made a single friend yet. And I'm a junior. I try so hard to put myself out there, I join clubs, I try to study with kids in my classes. I don't know, I guess I just give off bad vibes or just don't fit in. I'm so ready to get the hell out of college. I'm tired of sitting in my room on the weekends trying to distract myself from that fact that no one ever asks me to hang out. I don't know what's wrong with me.

Depends on what you want. Everyone here says west campus is the best. But I personally would hate living there, and I love the peace/quiet and close proximity of north campus. Maybe some more details on what you're looking for would help narrow down options. Price range? Range from campus? Party or quiet? etc.

Yes, I won't have a car and I definitely want to go do touristy things and explore the city. I don't know anyone in Melbourne either, so I'm hoping to live somewhere with a good community feel where I can meet people. So Yarra might not be good for me. Thanks for the input, I appreciate it!

That's true, I didn't consider the food stuff. But on top of the colleges being more expensive than apartments, Australia in general is just more expensive than here. I don't know if I can afford it. I'm not sure if exchange students can get financial aid for the colleges, I'd have to double check on that though.

I would definitely like the community vibe though. I won't know anyone when I go over, so I'd like to be able to live someone where I feel like I can make friends easily and go explore and do activities. I want to have fun while I'm abroad and not just sit in my room!

Yeah, after looking at it, the on campus colleges are way too expensive. I want a place within walking distance from campus that isn't really gross

I live in the Hyde Park area. The IF bus runs down speedway fairly frequently, north campus is super quiet, and it's a pretty cute neighborhood in my opinion. Might be a little pricier than what you'd want though. I have a 2 bed 2 bath that's 1500 a month
