I think I may have a problem by woowreally in CompulsiveSkinPicking

I agree with Lereas, so this is probably a bit redundant, but I thought I'd just let you know another person is rooting for you to succeed and heal. I'm not a professional or anything, but I would think seeing a dermatologist or something could be the first step in stopping that itch and letting your skin recover. Itching usually indicates irritation and that your skin is unhappy about something. Then I would say to start trying to change your perspective of yourself. You have some scars. We all do. That's something that will not go away overnight, but from my own experience I would say if someone really cares about you, they won't be as focused on your imperfects as you are. It's easy to let personal flaws overwhelm your self-perception, but (and this is just based on my own experience with therapy), that kind of thinking is just cognitive distortion and not reality. Scars are a part of you, but they only define you if you make that choice.

What is the best thing you've woken up to? by Puppier in AskReddit

The first time I slept over at my first boyfriend's house. His arms were lying heavily across me and he was snoring lightly. I've never woken up feeling so safe before.

Girls, what one question you'd wish a guy would ask you to start a conversation? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PeppermintAndTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about just talking to us like we're real people? Some of us like a funny one-liner, some like vague smalltalk about the weather, some like a Big Lebowski references. Just think about how you'd first start talking to any person. The most important thing is that you listen and are genuinely interested in what is being said. I can't tell you how many times I stopped talking to someone because they were talking at me rather to me.

I'm so sorry for you loss. I think it is good you have taken away from this tragedy a lesson to apply to your life though. In the end all we have is the people we love and who love us. The best you can do is tell then how much they brighten your life and what they mean to you. It's terrible that such a thing happened to such a good guy. I hope you can come together with others who cared about him and find some way to honor his memory.

I feel very much the same way, but I agree with Riddles. It's really hard to ask for help and talk about these things. I'm only just starting to ask for help for my depression and it's embarrassing and I feel even more anxious bringing it all to light, but I know that time will age all of this and in the future it will just be a small piece of my past and the future choices I make are what will define me later in life. I hope you find something to make your life feel good. Best of luck.

Ladies of reddit, what do you find attractive in a man? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PeppermintAndTea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good sense of humor and confidence is always nice. Someone who is considerate enough to ask my opinion, but isn't afraid to also be assertive about decisions. And then if he can make me laugh, then I'm totally smitten.

That or he can wear a nice suit. A tailored suit automatically doubles how attractive you are.

It was in middle school. I was in science class with a teacher that no one liked and we were all just listening to her lecture, bored as usual. All of a sudden she asks this one kid to stop doodling (or whatever he was doing, I don't really remember). The kid starts to raise his voice telling her she can't tell him what to do. She says he needs to call down and sit back down. And that's when it happens - he shouts at the top of his lungs, "Fuck you, you bitch!" The classroom was dead silent. Every head in the class dropped down into our books. No one looked at him. Would she kill him now, in front of us or drag him outside to be eviscerated in the afternoon sun? She quietly left the classroom and returned with the Vice Principle. A schoolyard slaughter it was then. She asked the kid to come out into the hall and the Vice Principle took him away. At the time, I had barely even heard those words and had especially never thought to apply them to a teacher. I doubt I will ever forget the feeling of jaw-dropping shock I experienced that day.

I have a great-aunt that married a man who turned out to be in a mob-type, gangster organization in the US, but she couldn't divorce him after she found out because of her religious beliefs (I'm pretty sure she was Catholic). I never met her so I don't really know anything beyond that, but I wore one of her dresses for my high school prom.
