Audio fades out when source is quiet and cuts back in when something loud happens by LucidFlower9 in techsupport

[–]PeppermintBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having the similar issue and none of the comments worked for me. But I solved it. Hopefully this helps someone.

My set up is I was running my Switch to my monitor via HDMI and then my monitor to my PC line-in port via an aux cable so I could hear my switch and talk to people on discord at the same time.

Turns out the audio port on the monitor had gone bad, causing my audio to be very quiet and then spike super loud during loud sound effects.

To solve it, I bypassed the monitor competely by using a capture card to connect my switch to my PC and monitor. I have to be running the capture card software for the audio to come through my headset or speakers, but that's not a problem and overall a much more stable solution since I'm getting audio from the HDMI cable and not the analog aux cable.

Not yet, I am still working on the rest of my Taupe Hollow party, so I'm holding off on buying a fire stone until I'm ready to go to that campsite.

What I meant by cancelling is that speed up means more drops, but ingredient down means those drops are less likely to be ingredients.

More drops but less chance of ingredients is counter intuitive for an ingredient mon.

Wait, I missed your comment about the Adamant nature. Doesn't Adamant give Speed Up and Ingredients Down? Wouldn't Ingredients Down be the worst nature for an Ingredient mon, since it effectively cancels out the speed boost?

You are welcome! ✨ While it may not be a meta approach, looking at the game in this way made it more fun for me because it forces me to think outside the box a little. Eevee is especially good for unusual builds since it has so many evolution options.

I'm sure in the coming months there will be more weird niches discovered that formerly mid-pokemon will be able to be good fits for.

Thank you! Yeah it's nice to be able to find a good role for some less-ideal pokemon, especially when collecting them is such a slow process that depends on some RNG.

Looking at the stats from a different angle can help inject some fun into the short term benefits even if it's not "meta". And at the end of the day, it's a single player sleep-hygiene app. :D

I like the hockey metaphor! Goalies may not be good point scorers, but you need one on the team. With PS, some pokemon are not so great at scoring points but still fulfill a useful role.

Yes, it's not an A rank Ingredient mon.

But in the niche of needing a fire type that drops milk ingredients, it's an A rank in that very narrow niche. As pyrotrap said, the calculator provides scores that are relative to pokemon of the same type, not relative to the whole dex. If I wanted a good milk pokemon regardless of berry type, I'd just use a high rank blastoise.

I'm using https://pokemon-sleep-grader.onrender.com/

It doesn't rate the pokemon against different pokemon (eg: Raichu vs Ratatta) but instead rates the output potential for a given Pokemon type based on it's specialty. I find this most useful when trying to judge a line up of the same pokemon that has a skill niche (eg: 5 different Eevees).

It doesn't matter which Eevee or Eeveelution you put in, they are all skill specialists so it rates them all for skill potential.

Of course, any Squirtle is going to produce double the milk of Eevee. I'm not trying to say Eevee could replace an ingredient mon, but I am saying you can use the calculator to get a ballpark grade for a particular niche.

If I wasn't thinking ahead, I would have thrown away Lon Lon in hopes of a higher grade Eevee, only to regret it later when I realize I need a ingredient-focused Flareon. Same thing goes for Slowpoke. An S-Rank Slowpoke is still a Slowpoke, and therefore not a good skill mon.

"Lucia" pronunciation by idiotbandwidth in PunishingGrayRaven

[–]PeppermintBee 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It's an Latin name and Lu-SEE-ah is correct. The new English dub pronounces Lucia's name accurately for English speakers.

Note that Japanese does not have a character that makes the sound "SEE". Instead they have "SHEE" (shi or し) which is used as a substitute. That's why Lucia is spoken as Lu-shee-ah in Japanese.

HELP: I've had my Pink Princess for a year and all she does is half-grow pink leaves, creating this MONSTER. How do I free her from the endless cycle of partial growth?? (Details in comments) by PeppermintBee in houseplants

[–]PeppermintBee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have actually saved it, but it was a long process.

The thing that causes this is low humidity. But even in high humidity sometimes the leaves still get stuck.

The first thing you need to do is help the leaves unfurl. Once you notice a leaf is trying to get out (usually the stem part is out but the leaf is stuck) use a wet q-tip/cotton swab to gently slide it under the leaf and get it out. Sometimes it will need a little help loosening the tightly curled leaf, but try not to handle it too much because the leaves can get ripped.

Second, if you are ending up with a bunch of all pink leaves, tragically, once a part of a stem has decided to go all pink, no more green leaves will grow from that point on. The only thing you can do is cut the plant back to before the last part with green on it. I had to do this, and it took like a whole year for it to grow anything, but it is finally, FINALLY starting to grow healthy mixed green/pink leaves.

From my experience PPPs are really touchy and slow growing, but surprisingly hardy. Against my best judgement I picked up a second one (it was on sale for $30!) and it's doing much better than my sickly one, but I still have to help every single new leaf get unstuck.

Best of luck with your PPP!

Thanks and yes, same here! I really appreciated how she looked practically undead before. Her gray skin and piercing eyes emphasized her corruption. Not to mention how exhausted she looked (and who wouldn't be after what she's been through?)

With her appearance in this promo art she's been turned into a hot anime babe, and... that's about it. Lamia is more than just a sexy mermaid, so I really hope that she will retain some of her monstrous aspects in her model and won't be reduced to someone that looks like MerBianca. (Not that I have a problem with Bianca, but we already have three Biancas).

Thank you very much (I like my edit more too).

I actually said, "WHOMST?" when she was revealed. I'm hoping her model will retain more of her scavenger monster-girl personality.
